Many of you already know that I broke up with my long-term girlfriend last month. The breakup came suddenly but the relationship had been dying for several months. I am ready to move on.

After the break up, I thought about a lady who I dated 10 years ago. She is from the Ukraine, grew up under the USSR regime, but has been in this country for about 20 years. We dated for 6 months and then she moved away to be with her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren. We parted on friendly terms but I started dating other women and Ana and I had very infrequent contact for the next 10 years. . . but I thought about her occasionally.

I recently contacted her and we are making plans to meet at a halfway point (she lives about 230 miles from me.) I am trying to be restrained but she was excited to hear from me and she is excited about us seeing each other again. It is nice to feel wanted!

She is the only woman from my past who I want to date again. Our previous relationship did not end in a breakup because of differences between us and I don't think I am walking back into a relationship that is plagued. I don't want to rush into a relationship with anyone but she is a nice woman who I know I can trust and she already knows that I will treat her with respect. I would not post a picture of her online but she bears a strong resemblance to this picture:


Is there anyone from your past who you would date again? Was it a sexual relationship or were you dating without it being a sexual relationship? Why did it end? Would you be optimistic if you resumed the relationship?

This question is posed to users who are not "players" or "serial daters" or women in search of free meals. This question is directed at people who take dating seriously, who do not want to be thought of as "players," etc.

Last month, I broke up with my girlfriend of 2 years and I resumed searching for a dating partner on Plenty Of Fish. Typically, if I send ten messages to POF users, I may get one reply, so I tend to scan many profiles, favorite those that look like reasonably good prospects, and then I send a number of emails at once.

In one week, I got three serious replies and have had initial meetings with two of them. They were both very nice ladies, they both had some very strong qualities, and I could envision dating either of them again. Both of them indicated that they would like to see me again. My third date is Friday night; I have spoken to her on the phone and she also seems to be a very nice lady.

My profile says that I date one woman at a time, and that is true; I want to select the lady who seems to offer the most promise for a long term relationship and then date her exclusively. However, I don't want to rush into determining which of the two or three is the one I should pursue.

I have some thoughts on how I should handle this but I want to solicit the opinions of others. How long/how many dates is a reasonable time to date both or all three before I make that decision? I don't want to mislead any of them but I also don't want to sound like some male diva auditioning contenders for the role of leading lady in my life. If anyone can suggest how to discuss with with each of them without making them feel like game show contestants, I would appreciate serious advice.

PS I do not expect to have sex this early in a relationship and I already have my own ideas on that subject. Still, I would like to hear what others think on that topic.
