I'll start, I'm from Chicago, inner city. From the hood. And yes, I transferred from school to school and I think all of them did have metal detectors.

I was talking to this French girl about the US education. Apart from being horrified at how much money we're left in debt from post secondary education, she was like mind blown when I told her every school I went to had metal detectors. Yes, even primary school? Whatever 1st-8th grade is called. And especially every high school.

We had to remove our bookbag, put it on that conveyor belt, walk through the metal detectors, and if we beeped, we'd remove our shoes and have that wand pass over us.
Every. Single. Day. At school.
In one of my schools, they even had us either wear a see through bookbag or empty the contents. It was incredibly embarrassing being female and having your menstrual products in the open.
Thankfully that was only temporary reaction because someone snuck a blade to school.

I live in mostly gang infested neighborhoods. Not by choice, it's very cheap here. So the schools had to do what they can to cut back on violence. There were still fights nearly everyday, and at least once a week, but at least they weren't that bad.

And i have a friend now who's a high school teacher and said there's this girl who would get bullied and into fights almost everyday. Chicago public schools suck ass.
So she somehow snuck razor blades into her hair, she put it up in a bun because she knew she would fight and they'd go after her hair.
I say "they" because she'd get jumped a lot, which means 1 vs multiple people. Usually what gangs do, attack 1 person.

It was something like this but with a giant line of high school kids.
