Context inspiring this question: Inspired by an excellent answer to a similar question I saw on Quora, which highlighted a kind of mental block or immaturity in relation to this issue that I had cultivated since I first started consuming news as a child. This might make a better MyTake, but I want to see people's answers.

The current war in Ukraine has seen an inspiring reaction from the world against the invasion of an independent country. It has also exposed significant double standards and hypocrisy when compared to our reaction to past illegal invasions, particularly those carried out by the US and NATO; towards refugees, but especially towards indiscriminate bombing that results in civilian casualties.

Basically; It seems as if any bad thing done by an autocracy is more wrong on account of their being an autocracy—regardless of the circumstances. In contrast, any bad thing done by a democracy is less wrong—or, as some op-eds would argue, good—on account of their being a democracy.

When articles like these are frequently published, they seem to promote the idea that those who bomb these countries have the license to do so. This is why some westerners can then demand, without remorse, that their governments bomb and sanction their enemies, or even commit genocide against them while simultaneously decrying their enemies’ human rights violations and retaliatory actions. Their enemies and detractors are in turn, quick to point to the atrocities committed by the West while simultaneously forgiving and rationalizing those same violations on their side.

Given the above; I am curious whether more people (here at least) genuinely see a heinous act as a heinous act, regardless of the perpetrator; or whether my suspicions are true, and that people are willing to accept, or at least tolerate their country committing human rights violations because their government/media has framed such actions as "justified" or "necessary".

After Russia invaded Ukraine there were a couple of weeks of mixed messages from various figures in or in cahoots with the Republican party, in that many first found themselves simply continuing the pro Putin narrative they espoused before the invasion while others came out against it immediately.

I'm personally a little surprised that republicans shifted against Putin so quickly, given they seem to mostly agree with his anti-democracy philosophies. Perhaps this is as close as we will come to a "come to Jesus" moment for republicans? Or, more likely, I suspect republicans simply noticed there is nothing they could do to spin the invasion into a pro Putin narrative, so they are playing along. But the instant they gain back power they will definitely take measures to weaken Ukraine while publicly complaining about how weak Ukraine is becoming and blaming Biden for it. It's no secret they do this with everything but there is a chance they have genuinely learned their lesson and realize Putin's misinformation attacks on the US for the last 8 years were just that: attacks. It doesn't matter if Putin cynically assumed (correctly, it turns out) that republicans would happily participate in attacking their own country as long as there was short term benefit involved. If republicans can forgive themselves for choosing to be so greedy, and therefore stop it, democrats would likely find it too much of a relief to hold it over their heads for long. But that assumes they are serious.

training, i really got attached to her From the
very first day as she is just like me in nature
She used to call me her best friend we talk for
hours in a day on call, & sometimes she flirts
with me (i seriously don't know how serious she
is), so i just ignore everything as she don't speak openly..

After 3 months of our friendship her 1st boyfriend came into her life & she totally changed... she rarely calls me & one day she Called me "Bhai" just to make her boyfriend happy...
I just cut off from her after that
After 5 months of her relationship she break
up...&Then came back to me apologize a lot... i thought she is really sorry so i had forgiven her..
Again we became bfff... same she stated
calling me daily & again I got attached to
her... sometimes she just flirts with me saying
"how good it be if friendship turns into
relationship"
But i ignored.
Now she have 2 nd boyfriend &
same thing started again what she had done
during Frist boyfriend... During our last conversation she called me in front of her boyfriend "Bhai we are just good friends & will be good friends Only"
I was happy with that also but she never even cares for as a friend also... she don't gives a shit about me...

I don't understand how a person can be so heartless that she can see how much i cares for her at every point of life... i even told her that I am really attached to her... she still don't stops hurting me... i am really very upset... What to do?
