Search Results: trust issues with friends

I don’t know about you all but I don’t trust people. I think most people are not worth pursuing a bond with and most friendships/ relationships tend to end negatively anyway.

I’ve been bullied and teased, by family and people I called friends, so I’m pretty paranoid of people in general. Who agrees?

Let me add a few things for background.

Im told I’m attractive (think I’m average) but cannot attracts a cute guy to save my life.

In HS, work and when I attended college in person for the 1st semester, I mostly made acquaintances. I feel the friendship tends to fade, I make more effort and end up disregarding them because it shouldn’t be one sided.

I have a BS in Psych, began my first real job this year (I have no potential friendships there because I only speak when spoken to) and hopefully will be moving out later this year. In the process of buying a condo.

I am very reserved and have been burnt my people, nothing rare there. I have trust issues and tend to feel like the friendships I could potentially make would only result in betrayal and drama.

To start it off, often I regret trusting people because those who turned their backs on me happened to be close friends, my ex and family. I can't help but let my guard down and this makes it difficult for me. Usually I tend to forgive if it isn't a very serious issue (ie malicious gossip about me), and it gives people even my family a chance to speak about me. It sucks when I have to hear such gossip from other family members, friends and strangers.

Does anyone have experience on how to deal with trust and broken trust? Also, how to stop trusting others and walking away when required. I am starting to think that I have bad luck with people that I try to close myself off.
