Well... last year my boyfriend found my grandmother number and I am finally back in contact with her... the last time I saw her was when I was around 7 and now I am 21 ... and that was the last time I had contact as well because of my abusive parents etc
Well this week she wanted me to of me but I had something come up.. ... but now I just don't know..
I feel guilty going without my boyfriend who can't take off and have to take care of our animals...
I will be leaving next week for at least 2 wks

So I was doing some thinking about the fact that, according to studies, broken households (single parents, divorced parents, etc) result in disastrous effects for children and therefore society, greatly increasing crime rates, etc.

I started thinking about the fact that divorce rates may be heightened by mothers being in the workforce & therefore having more opportunity to mingle with men besides their husbands.

I think women should definitely have the right to be in the workforce. But I also think that stay-at-home motherhood should be respected, valued, and encouraged by society. I think that many women want to be in the workforce because being stay-at-home mothers is disrespected by society.

If we valued and encouraged stay-at-home motherhood - raising the next generation IS an extremely important task, after all - then many more women would be stay-at-home mothers, and divorce (and therefore crime) rates would probably reduce.

When I was a feminist, the biggest issue that I saw with stay-at-home motherhood is that it makes the woman financially dependent on the man, which means that it'll be harder to escape if she's in an abusive relationship. To solve that problem, I think that adequate shelters and services should be provided for abused women.
