An expectant mother whose heart stopped for 68 minutes as she was giving birth, woke from a coma two weeks later thinking she was 13 and had no idea she had two children and a fiancé. Quick-thinking doctors and midwives delivered baby Nico, weighing 6lb 8oz, using forceps, while other medics battled to save Shannon's life.

After an astonishing 68 minutes, doctors were able to bring her back from the brink of death but warned her family she may not wake up or could suffer severe brain damage.

Shannon, who suffered an amniotic fluid embolism last September and delivered Nico while unconscious, was unable to hold her baby for almost two weeks as doctors put her in an induced coma to save her life.
Although her family were relieved when Shannon, who is also mother to three-year-old Mika, woke up, they were devastated to discover she thought she was a teenager and could not remember she is now a mother-of-two or has a fiancé.

Nicola, a full-time carer, said: 'She kept calling me "mammy" and when we asked her where she lived, she gave us the address for a house we'd lived in when she was 13.

'She had no idea who her fiancé was and didn't believe us when we told her she had two kids. It was like she'd forgotten her whole life and thought she was a teenager again.'

After six weeks in hospital, Shannon, from Cwmbran in Gwent, South Wales, is recovering at her mother's house, a half-an-hour bus journey from her fiancé and children, and is largely confined to a wheelchair, barely able to see anything.

Nicola said: 'We went to the hospital that day in September expecting to come home with a new baby, but it's like we have another child, too, because Shannon needs a lot of care.'

The other day my boyfriend of 10 months and I were talking and he happened to bring up the question "If my daughter wanted to live with us one day, what are your thoughts on that"?

So currently we don't live together. He has 2 kids from a previous relationship, one who is 5 and the other who is 6. I have my daughter with me from a previous relationship and she is 6. Our current arrangement is that he has his kids every second weekend and on those particular weekends that he has them we alternate time spent at each others homes just to be fair, so one time he and the kids will come over to my place for the weekend and the next time he has them, my daughter and I go over to his house for the weekend. His kids are a little more full on than my daughter and so it can seem like a bloody circus at times, just different upbringings and slightly different parenting styles unfortunately.

Our history to date is that we did end up rushing things and he actually moved in to my place about 4 months into our relationship but he had been staying the majority of the time at mine about a month prior to that. The kids started spending weekends at my house pretty much a month into our relationship. Right from the get go the kids have always stayed at mine. Then at the 8 month mark I found out my boyfriend had a serious issue which he had been hiding from me and which had impacted our relationship somewhat so I asked him to leave and we broke up.

Considering all this plus my update to this poll, if she were one day to move in with us, would I be financially accountable for her. Like is it reasonable to expect that I financially support her with my boyfriend eg. school fees, excursions, hobbies and any other day to day living expenses. I'm just wondering if that is a reasonable expectation from my boyfriend considering she has a mother and father who should be providing for her, why would I be expected to do that? It doesn't seem right.
