Your thoughts? I think it's justified, to minimize the impact of COVID19. Sure, if people go to gatherings, they're choosing to risk getting COVID19, but the problem is that they might spread the germs to other people who HAVEN'T chosen to go to non-essential gatherings.
For example, someone might be staying home all the time, except to get groceries so they don't starve to death, & then they pick up COVID19 from going to the store, because there was some inconsiderate douchebag who decided to go to large gatherings & then brought COVID19 germs into the store.
Same for young people who go to nonessential gatherings & then bring home COVID19 to their at-risk parents and grandparents. I know my sister would probably still be going to bars if they weren't closed, & she'd be putting my 60 year old mother at risk whenever she came home.

Some people say that the prohibitions on gatherings are violating the Constitutional "right to assembly", but the Constitution wasn't written with a deadly pandemic in mind. Plus the Constitution was written during a time when people didn't even know what a germ was.
Many aspects of the Constitution are timeless; what is not timeless is the ignorance (during that time period) regarding how to slow the spread of pandemics.

There have been large gatherings of teens and young adults partying on Florida beaches. In the words of one college student, "If I get corona, I get corona. At the end of the day, I'm not gonna let it stop me from partying."

"If I get corona" Okay, but this isn't about you. This isn't about us. This isn't about healthy young people. If you get it, you'll probably be fine. This is about protecting at-risk people, such as elderly people & people with health problems, who might suffer greatly or even die from the virus.

The problem is that many people are getting COVID19, and before they start showing symptoms (the disease is most contagious prior to onset of symptoms and during the first week of symptoms) they're going about their day and spreading the germs to other people, who inadvertently spread it to their at-risk loved ones (such as elderly parents and grandparents) who then die from it.

Large parties are cesspools for asymptomatic people to spread the virus to countless other people. I can't find the article now but there was one gathering in which 45+ people ended up getting COVID19, despite nobody displaying symptoms beforehand. That demonstrates how far the virus can spread, in a single gathering, even if someone's not showing symptoms.

I wonder how many people are going to die because these people refused to simply stay at home, drink some wine, blast some music, chat with friends over Skype, binge TV and movies, and/or play video games. Instead, they decided that partying during spring break was more important than the lives of countless at-risk people.

(By the way, before someone comes talking about how COVID19 is no worse than flu, I debunked that with numbers and statistics here.)

🍀Saint Patrick's day is a day celebrated by mainly the Irish but since 1737 has been adopted into American holidays. The story behind Saint Patrick is that he was a slave taken to Ireland at the age of 16. After he escaped, he returned to Ireland in 432 to convert the Irish to Christianity and established monasteries, churches, and schools. He eventually died on March 17, (in 461) which people celebrate as St. Patty's day (for short).

While this is not seen as a religious holiday, its intentions come from religious roots. There are legends around Patrick and how he drove out all the snakes in Ireland (could be taken as a metaphor for temptation, sin, or the devil since the Bible depicts them as a snake) and explaining the Holy Trinity through the image of a shamrock or 3-leaf-clover. ☘️

People, mainly Irish, celebrate this holiday by wearing the color green, hunting for 4-leaf-clovers, religious services, feasts with corned beef and cabbage, and even giant parades! Such parades are hosted by New York City and Boston while the Chicago River is dyed green. People can also be found cheering in the pubs with some good green beer (just make sure you are 5 years older than me lol). Make sure you look out for leprechauns too!
