An exact uniform provided by your employer would be like a police uniform (vest, duty belt, boots, badge, gun, etc.) Or an EMS or Fire uniform. Some medical institutions and restaurants also provide their employees with specific uniforms.

A general uniform would be requiring you as the employee to wear a specific color/style of clothing (like a black polo shirt and khaki pants) but requiring the employee to purchase the clothing themselves and not specifying specific brands.

A lax uniform would be something like "professional" or "business" in that you may wear whatever you want to work (suit, button up, slacks, skirt, dress) as long as it is meets whatever societal expectations exist for that category of dress.

Or maybe you're a YouTuber or something that you could wear whatever you want for the day.

And... maybe you're unemployed.

Basic is when you have no originality in your style so you end up wearing clothing that every other basic person wears. Ugg boots used to qualify for this status but it has been a good 7+ years since their peak in popularity which was from about 2007-2012 and every girl wore them constantly I know I did, they were nearly my only winter shoes I owned and I even wore them in summer along with plenty of other girls.
So they were totally basic but today not so much in winter I barely see them anymore maybe like1/20 women are wearing them and I probably see as many men wearing Uggs as women. So they really are not basic anymore, I still wear them and the idea of them being basic or not I don't care about because I will continue wearing them every day in the winter since nothing matches their comfort or warmth but what I can't stand is I still have to hear people make comments about me being a basic white girl because I wear Uggs and it gets really annoying.

I know many people do not like boot cut jeans. And many people do not like my boots. Fair Enough. 👍🏻 😎
