Search Results: finding the right person

Obviously I'm not referring to looking for quick sex.
My question is only meant for those that are either looking for a long-term relationship or marriage and want to find a partner they're compatible with. It can be anything from having similar religious background, being career-minded, having a low sexual past, only wanting another virgin waiting till marriage, etc.

Who would have it easier? The woman finding the right man or the guy finding the right woman?

Nowadays the media inundates us with stories of people finding true love, moving heaven and earth to prove it's true love and ultimately sacrificing everything in their life for the sake of the one thing that matters to them: the relationship.

My question to you folks:

In real-world relationships, do you think (that despite what the media portrays) it is possible to have a successful, healthy relationship if you're not willing to sacrifice everything (your goals, your dreams, the possibility of reproducing, living in the location you've dreamed about for years, etc) in order to make the relationship work?

Caveat: Before people come piping in with 'Oh, well if you find the RIGHT person, you won't have to make those choices because they'll automatically be in tune/on board with whatever you want,' remember that this is real-world we're talking about. Even if someone says they agree with you on everything (including that they want exactly what you want EVERY time), chances are they probably don't.
