I think maybe with a lot of practice you can. To me belief might be more important than reality. Most people don’t say fuck acting right since there is no afterlife.

Beleif in god is comforting. I didn’t decide not to believe. I remember the day I stopped believing for certain was at the Vatican. After decades of being Catholic, Irish by birth parent and my father having suffered The Troubles.

To believe is bliss for many. Not believing is without any reward other than you know what to expect when your time comes. But believing is so helpful for you when loved ones pass.

I thinl many many people never question their belief and have a community of believers that talk about god.

Raised Catholic we didn’t try to interpret the Lord’s intention to every single day and pretend to know what he would think.

But some people feel Jesus has a personal hand in everyday when things are bad. I don’t see a down side to that.

These are a couple things my father did during my childhood and early teen years:

- Wake me up with a bucket of cold water late at night (usually when he was drunk) and made me play an instrument for his friends. If I didn't do it, he told me he would leave me outside in the cold for a whole day.

- If I did something wrong during my early childhood year, he would scream and threatened to kick me out or make me disappear. Though it was all talk in the end, it used to scare the hell out of me.

- He would joined in the taunting whenever two of his friends made jokes about me. My father himself called me a mistake out loud in front of them. They were all laughing and drunk.

- Literally threw me into the swimming pool to make me a better swimmer and that he was tired of me being a slow learner. Then he was laughing afterwards.

- He buried (only my head was sticking out) once as punishment for disobeying and left me there for hours.

Every single time I think about abuse, it's usually associated with your typical slapping around or getting beaten. I don't recall my father ever hitting me but sometimes I think what he did was just as bad or worse. It got to the point I used to have nightmares (sometimes I would wake up screaming) and constant flashbacks.

Amber is 36 years old. She's a single mother and has a 17 year old son named Quan. Amber goes to church and she's a devoted Christian woman. She agrees with everything in the bible but she had two abortions in her past. She encourages other girls to get abortions, its there choice even if the guy wants the baby.

Quan was tired of having his hair shaved off or permed so when he was 14 he asked his mother could he get dreads. His mother tells him she would allow him if he had good hair. She says you look bad when you grow your hair out, it looks terrible like your fathers. You want to get a girlfriend don't you? Don't you want to look good? She wouldn't allow Quan to leave the house without a perm or his hair shaved off. Quan was angry but Amber stayed by her ways. Quan asked again at 16 but Amber said no because he doesn't have good enough hair and it's crappy like his fathers. quan punched her in the face, and threw her head into the wall. Amber had a bloody nose.

Quan has a cousin that he loves a lot and she was going to live with them, Amber says she can but her curfew is 8:00 she's not allowed to wear her natual hair under no circumstances and Amber was going to go through her phone once a week. The girl left after three days. Quan was enraged and told his mother one day he would shot her with a Ak gun.

Quan is gay and wants to experiment with guys. One night Amber walks in on Quan kissing and fondling on a kid named Nelson. Nelson left. Amber says gays are disgusting, God doesn't like gay and how being gay sends people to hell and its morally wrong. Quan called her a whore, punched her in the head, pushed her and said bitch fuck you and your God! He also broke her finger and the next day bought a loaded gun home and glared at his mother.
