So I've always been a rather reserved person, and never really hugged anyone till I met my girlfriend. I am 19, she is 22.

However, my girlfriend is just SO affectionate with people she is close to... I'm fine with it, but it's all new to me. I'm not used to seeing it, since I didn't hang out with friends too much growing up. To be fair, she's only this way with other girls, not guys, but I know she's bisexual, while I'm lesbian...

But anyways, she HUGS people a lot, first of all... pretty tightly, too. Face squeezed up against their face, and all. She also PECKS them on the cheek. Not all of them, but about half of them. She also likes to SIT CLOSE to them, thighs and shoulders touching and all. She even does this while in SWIMSUITS and SHORT SHORTS and TANK TOPS... so a lot of bare skin contact, heh... she says "it's just skin, no big deal at all silly!"

I don't know if I'm just weird, but doing what she does so often, so frequently, with so many friends and family members... would just give me sensory overload.

I know that none of her friends or family members are lesbian or bisexual though. So it's safe, but I can't help but wonder if this is normal...

Whenever I bring this up to my girlfriend, she just laughs and says, "How silly! I'm just really, REALLY affectionate! And besides, remember this, queen... you're the only one I French kiss and have sex with everyday, so no need to be jealous, ya goofball!"

So that makes me feel better, haha.

If it matters, my girlfriend is Black, 22 years old, 5'11, muscular, curvy... when it comes to hugging shorter people she has to sort of pick them up, or else her boobs will literally be in their face, lol. It's kind of humorous. 😂😂😂

We’ve been friends since middle school kind of on and off. Because honestly she (we’ll call her Lauren) used to be very obnoxious and she knows it, and we were in a friend group, the other girls didn’t really like her. Like just me and our other former best friend who she used to be clingy to before I showed up. The other girls were like “yeah she’s mean to us and is rude etc etc” so when we had group hangouts and the two of us weren’t the ones planning it, guess who didn’t make the invite. We kind of drifted in high school, still around each other but I was into musicals and stuff and she’s just very introverted and would just read and not talk to anyone or even try to get involved in a conversation.

The rest of the group stopped talking to me because the girl who acted like the alpha was such a bitch and I called her out on it, next thing you know I was ostracized. By the end of senior year we were like “fuck em” and it was just Lauren and I. I went off to college and made new friends (freshman year was trial and error, but by sophomore year I found great friends for me) but she went to community college and basically didn’t socialize with anyone. She just waited for me to be available to come over, sleep over whatever. It’s like she doesn’t even TRY to make other friends. It’s suffocating.

We are in our early 20’s I graduated college already and she has like another year to go. Whenever we hangout she immediately assumes she can sleepover my place or like insists that I sleepover hers. We’re girls. That means we have to share a bed, and she’s gonna try to cuddle with me and invade my personal space. Speaking of that whenever she sees me she always has to give me a ridiculously long hug, it’s heavy handed and she literally doesn’t let go. I am open to hugs but I’m not this overly affectionate person, I read social cues. She really doesn’t.

I introduced her to my college friends at my grad party and still she just clings to me the whole time! I’m sick of it.
