Do you think this girl's mother is an entitled woman asking for too much? Please read.

I'm just an observant (a family friend). The girl was dating her boyfriend for 4 months. All was great until the lady excluded him on a family event and got involved in the relationship too much. The lady even speaks for her daughter on conversations, interrupts on the table too.

The guy reacted like anyone would've: reducing his visits, distancing from the relationship, hardly going out on dates and spending more time on work, with friends and elsewhere... away from drama, the meddling mother and his pushover girlfriend.

The girl's b-day was last month and the lady argued with the guy badly. She literally insulted him (making him cry in anger) because he came with no gift. He came with nothing because the lady ruined the surprise date. He was gonna take her on a restaurant. The lady literally told him what to get for his daughter and organized the b-day herself. The girl said nothing, stood there, didn't defend him.

When the guy claimed he was gonna surprise her on her b-day, she thought it would be with a damn engagement ring. LOL
- The relationship went south ever since the mother meddled
- The guy's girlfriend is a total pushover; she's already 20 years old
- The girl doesn't want kids nor a family
- The girl hasn't really been doing anything for the guy besides having sex.
- Just because she lost her virginity to him, doesn't mean he has to marry her, esp if she's not contributing anything and he has more to lose.
- I heard the girl once told him ''I'll abort the thing if you ever get me pregnant''. She referred to an unborn baby as a thing.
- The girl doesn't even know how to make basic meals, balance a checkbook, take care of herself, act like an adult, etc.

With all those negative points, the drama and everything else... the lady really thinks her daugher deserved a ring on her finger.

I’ve been seeing a guy for some time and the energy was great in the beginning- he was really into spending time with me. However, the last few weeks have been kinda rough. He’s about to go into another year of school and completely supports himself (working for rent, food, and tuition money).

He works odd jobs (one of them, for example, delivery for a local florist) and visited his best friend across the country for a couple weeks, which kept him from working for a little while. I could feel communication changing between us so I brought it up the last time we saw each other, which was when he got back. He told me that he was going to start to catch up on working because of the time he missed, especially with rent/tuition coming up, so he’d probably be distant for a while.

We didn’t speak for two weeks and I understand his situation but I was still bothered. So I reached out and he apologized and said that he’s had quite a few things on his plate. I also remembered that he told me a while ago about a serious personal matter that’s actually coming up in the next few weeks, so I know he is juggling some stuff.

Part of me (due to insecurities from past relationships) is kinda afraid of all of this being an excuse to ghost me. I always hear people say “if they wanted to they would” etc but I am sympathetic to being in stressful situations. I have really bad anxiety and at times, I shut out everyone and retreat. I also know that guys at times have the tendency to do the same.

I guess I’m asking, does it seem like he’s retreating because of dealing with what’s going on in his life, or could it be some ghosting bs “being busy”?

I’ve been seeing someone for a few weeks now and I’ve been enjoying my time with him. We live about an hour away from each other but he makes the drive to me on the weekends when we’re free so we can hang out. We’ve gotten really comfortable with each other (maybe too comfortable, he’s popped a zit on my face) but he has a toothbrush for me at his place.

My biggest issue/pet peeve is communication when we don’t see each other. I have really bad anxiety and when it’s complete silence for days, I always assume the worst and that it’s my fault or I somehow messed things up. We’re both young and he works a ton of odd jobs to make ends meet for himself. Which I understand is rough, he’s completely independent saving up money for law school tuition, rent, food, etc. He had a personal matter that didn’t allow him to work for some time so he’s been trying to catch up on that.

I brought up the communication before when it was radio silence for a few days and told him I assumed he wasn’t interested anymore, and he explained his personal situation. I understand. But the last time we saw each other, I jokingly asked if he’s going to go ghost again. He told me that because he wasn’t able to work for that while, he has a lot to make up in the coming week to make up for all that money he lost. Which means there probably won’t be time for our usual phone calls (they’re long and the nature of his jobs don’t allow him to get on the phone and I completely understand why).

It’s been about a week and I haven’t heard a word. I know he’s fine, he shared a post on his Facebook. I was upset because a simple text would have taken that same amount of time. At the same time, I’ve also been in situations where I don’t talk to people but I’ll be active on my social media.

Guys, because he warned me in advance that it would be a busy week or more trying to make up for all the money he lost, is that a legit excuse to be silent for so long?
