Sometimes I feel different than how an hispanic woman have been stereotyped as:

1) Starting with religion: this might come as a surprise but I'm an atheist
2) Childless at the age of 28 and undecided about kids (sometimes I find myself ambivalent towards it and others times I think about it... though before I used to have a ''never'' stance)
3) Career-minded; I'm not against the idea of possibly settling down but would want a man that supports my interest in the business world and doesn't think that only the traditional way of man working/proving and woman cooking-cleaning works out. Otherwise what's the point of studying a major for 4 long years, only to just give it up?
4) If you expect me to feed your whole family on social gatherings, at most I'll buy some snacks and make coffee but that's it; they shouldn't even be coming empty-handed with the expectation of getting fed
5) I might not be into the spiritual world nor believe in super beings but do think there might be life in other planets, esp in other galaxies. This makes more sense than believing that virgin mary gave birth being a virgin.

At the same time, I guess I have retained more reservative traits such as:
- Waiting for a relationship (if it doesn't work then I'll just move on and seek another relationship but have no interest in casual encounters)
- Very low count (1 to be exact... lol) and really not too much into parties unless it's an important celebration or b-day
- Haven't gone out to a hang-out for a while so I don't have an active social life at the moment
- Don't really ask too much (ex: could really careless if your car is brand new or if you're 6ft or not... 5'7 by the way)

I have liked this guy since last August and I have always thought that he has something for me. However, it was only for the last 3 mths, we got closer to each other.

Our relationship has taken over a slow progress. I am in my early 30s and he is in his mid 30s. He told me recently that in the past, he dated girls quickly after he met them and he can't do that anymore since it didn't work out for him. But, he said nothing about us ever.

He looks for me consistently, calling me on the phone and asking me out. He shows interest in asking questions on myself and my family. He introduced me to his family soon after we met, although he makes it as if it is a casual encounter. When he asked me out, he would tell me at last minute that one of his guy friends wants to join us. I feel like he is on the fence of letting me think of him more than a friend. Yet, he would bring me small things like food and souvernirs frm overseas. He tells me about his struggles at work and I know that he is in a near project dateline. I have tried to be a great support when he talks about it and I introduced him to my friend who can help him. I think he is appreciative of that.

I am very concious to avoid acting needy and focus on having a gd time with him when we are together. We laughed and teased each others, yet we are also able to talk with depth. I feel that we have the compatibility to be together. But, it confused and saddened me at the same time over the slow progress. We never been physically intimate with each other. All we have do is hug each other when we are about to separate.

It would be great if I can have some lights into what he is thinking. Then, there's the question on what I can do to make sure that we have the best chance. Really appreciate your inputs :)

I met a man (24years old) who was from Germany - living in Australia.

He met a girl (23years old) who was his supervisor at a cinema he worked at.

They started going out and he eventually moved in with her.

He had been with her for 1.5year and then met me at the bar he worked at. I had no knowledge that he had a girlfriend and gave him my number.

We proceeded to get to know one another and then, he revealed he was attached. I directed him elsewhere until he became unattached.

He went on a 'break' from his girlfriend and we had a casual - lustful 'relationship/friends with benefits' arrangement.

As his friend, I suggested he give 'us' up and work on his relationship - he said he didn't want to - it didn't make him happy.

Yet somehow, living with her seemed to give him a sense of security. Even though they broke up eventually - they still live together 'seperate rooms'. It's been verified by his and her friends.

So my quetion is, why would he a) not want to touch her, b) not want to marry her, c) not want to work on the relationship and d) not want to walk away?

To me - that sounds like a relationship of convenience and sentimentality - not love. More like a good friendship and there's loyalty there.

Why waste your life?

End result: I broke off our casual encounter and met a lovely guy who I'm now in a relationship - and he is STILL in limbo.

I will never understand him or his choices. Seems very sad and strange to me. What a miserable life.
