I'm under the all-encompassing conception that the best relationships are based off of lies. For instance, my ex told me that when a woman asks you if she looks fat in some arbitrary item of clothing, that you should scream and run out of the room. Generally, that's not really practical, but the next closest thing is saying, "Oh, yes darling, you look amazing in anything." Or something or another. A small lie (not saying it's always a lie), but I think that the same thing applies in larger instances. No, maybe more important with more important things.

Take cheating for instance. If, at one point, you get completely wasted and end up falling into someone, would it be more damaging to come clean to your significant other, or to keep it hidden under the rug?

When you tell a damaging truth, that, imo, does more damage than telling a flattering or innocuous lie. Even if the relationship is able to move past that damaging truth, there will still be scars left over which will never go away.

Though, of course, being caught in a lie is more damaging (probably in most cases) than telling the truth.

Follow up question: In your previous relationships, what do you remember being more damaging--the truth, a lie, or being caught/catching someone in a lie?

And, finally, does the relationship ever fully recover from a hurtful truth?

I personally think I look really good with stubble, better than most guys my age even. I have a rugged handsomeness - I've been told this - of course it doesn't mean $hit because I'm a nice guy finishes last in the friend zone kinda' guy.

Anyway what I'm saying is that I think I look better with a nice light, kinda' course not too obvious stubble, than I do perfectly shaved so that I'm perfectly smooth... what's so good about being smooth anyway it's boring? I don't look like... trampy like The Dude. Anyway this in reference to trying to impress a girl... so yeah there's like, a subject of my efforts here - she is the subject.
