I believe both the soldier and police were wrong in the Virginia incident, but that is not what this question is about. Basically, do you believe military members should have a means of checks and balances when dealing with police? That checks and balance could be a special grievance process only available to active duty (including reserves and guard) that police and the DoD agree on. It could also be an agreed upon protocol between the military and law enforcement where both sides agree to certain conduct when dealing with each other that can allow cops to relax a little. This protocol would be part of all military and police training so both sides know how to correctly handle issues. Military members are not your average citizens and their training often conflicts with what the average civilian is taught. Military members are not above the law, but there should be laws put in place specifically to deal with police-military encounters where the cops can do their job while showing respect for servicemembers. Many countries have a structure that lets the military check the police when the police step out of line.
