Historically marriage began as social convention which allowed for the inheritance of property, namely land ownership. Tracing it's development, it began as something entirely separate from love and many marriages were arranged to aquire a political/socioeconomic 'advantage'. The modern notion of marriage being 'the crystalise of love' find it's roots in propaganda championed by pop culture, religion, and by various corporate agendas (especially by the diamond and film industry). As divorce rates continue to skyrocket nationally one begins to question the efficacy of such a dynamic and the influence it exerts on children (Every single person on both my mother and father's side of the family has gotten a divorce, including my parents). Do I still believe in love? Yes. Do I believe people belong together forever? No. All things are in state of transformation and relationships must eventually dissipate. To force their unity only produces grief, dissimumaltion, and insincerity.

So my true questions: How do we move forward, how are the children of future generations going to be raised, what does love mean in contemporary society?

So my whole life... I've always been fat, disgusting, and overweight. And pretty damn pitiful.

I've always been really sensitive, hated exercise and veggies, and gotten depressed over very small things... and eating always made me happier. My dad has always been against how much I ate, but my mom, aunt, and grandma always encouraged it, as they just wanted to me to be happy, and eating made me happy. They didn't even force me to eat veggies or anything, they just let me eat all I wanted.

They did tell me I should at least exercise so I'm not THAT unhealthy, but even then, if I really hate exercise that much, then don't even bother.

As a result... now I'm 23 years old, single, living all alone, I'm 5'11, and weigh a solid 432 pounds... and I only get fatter every week. I make decent money, but my physical state is just a mess.

However, fairly recently, my dad visited me in the first time ever in like 4-5 years, and outright said, "Look at you, son! You're absolutely disgusting! The amount of food you eat... how you can't even run for 10 seconds without getting out of breath... the way you look... just how did you get so damn fat like this? I should've never let your female family members be in charge of what you eat like that! They just let you eat all the junk you want, and however much you want! Well now that all changes! You're an independent man, but I'm gonna try to help you! From this day forward, let's get you exercising and running, eating vegetables, and just overall eating less in general!"

And so my dad did just that... and he was with me almost the whole time... at the gym, on the threadmill, I couldn't handle longer than 5 minutes, and broke down into tears... I couldn't eat vegetables, as they were too disgusting and I cried...

After a couple days of this, my dad finally concluded, "Son... just be yourself, and do as you please. Forget about all this healthy & fit shit. Better be happy & unhealthy, than unhappy but healthy."

And left.

My ethnicity is that I'm Latino but I'm racially (Mulatto Dominican father and Dark-skinned Mestiza Mexican mother) and was born and raised in the US. I traveled to Mexico and Dominican Republic to meet a few relatives I never met, only to get snubbed and treated like shit by them because of me being dark-skinned. Also, I don't have a real family bond with my parents, more of a provider/needs relationship.

People keep telling me how Latinos are accepting and "tolerant" all races, which I honestly call bullshit. If Latinos are so racially harmonious and accepting, then why are Blacks and Indigenous people still treated like crap and living in poverty while White Latinos/Criollos are all living comfortably at their (Blacks and Indigenous) expense and put on a pedestal by the mainstream media all over Latin America?

I never understood why everyone likes to single out the "Anglos" or US/Americans for racism when Latinos, particularly White and Mestizo Latinos are just as, if not, more racist than White Anglo Americans. The only difference is that the racists in the US are much more upfront and honest about their racism while the racists in Latin America are passive aggressive and behind closed doors or your back. Not to mention that Latin Americans often get away their racism and get a free pass by the social media while Americans are constantly getting ripped new assholes for it, even when they aren't being racist.

Anyways, I hate the Latino culture for its Eurocentrism and racist hypocrisy (for their treatment of Blacks and American Indians) and refuse to ever socialize with Latinos based on my personal experience with my own family and simply denounce my Mexican and Dominican heritage and just label myself as just an American.
