My boyfriend is eight years older than I am. I started talking to him online when I was 14 and we started dating a few months after. I never actually met him in person until almost my 16th birthday. We hid our relationship until I recently turned 18 years old, because of the fact that him being so much older than me and me being a minor it was illegal for us to be together. Do you see a problem with something like this? Do you you have a preference when it comes to dating someone older, younger, or your age? How big of an age gap is too big for you?

I wonder till what point of being honest and never keeping any secrets whatsoever are you suppose to be in your relationships.

Things that I find it irrelevant to share with my bf:
- My teenaged brother continuing to take his depression medication after having issues at school.
- My mother's mixed opinions on my boyfriend... she will like him sometimes and other times she'll criticize some things
- My brother almost getting into a physical fight with my father
- I cheated once on a standardized exam to graduate from HS.
- I was in special (Emotional Handicapped) classes at an early age and certain teachers thought I was retarded for not understanding what ''raise your hand'' meant at the time. I was 5 and only spoke Spanish then.
- How much money I have at this moment on my bank account. Unless we're engaged or married then it's a difference.

Are they generally with my age gap? I'm 29 (turning 30 on April 7) and my long-term boyfriend is 32. We met long ago (I was then 19 and he was 21) but got back together and we've talked about havings kids.

Or is it a longer gap where the guy is a lot older?
My mother met my father she was 2-3 shy of turning 18 (in her last year of HS) while he was 28. Then a couple other relatives seem to be having that similar gap where the man is always 5-10 years older. One exception is my brother's aunt whom is 2 years older than her husband. Meanwhile my mother's godmother was 20-30 years younger than her husband.

All this talk about a woman's prime years and guys being fixed on the 18-24 year-olds mainly gets me wondering sometimes if C is the norm. Then a couple relatives had a conversation about how a man in his early 30's (my bf's age basically) can get a 20 year-old but once he's in his 40, then he has to get a woman in her 30's. I admit it kind of sounds irritating. How about my age gap, where it's not too much of a difference?
