Also by 'not popular' I do not mean you were at the very bottom of the social pyramid I just mean you weren't at the very top. Please share opinions and also tell me whether you judged people often based on popularity, thanks :)

p. s. I am just honestly curious. I'm not popular or unpopular, I'm somewhere in the middle with friends on both sides of the spectrum so I was just curious :)

Just read an article and learned that there are 2 components in popularity:
Status and Likability.

Having a status means you are confident, you stand for yourself, everyone knows who you are and they try not to mess with you because you are aggressive, you are respected, invited to all the parties out there, people think high of you but they don’t really like you that much. It is just that they can never say this in front of you.

Being Likable is more positive side of popularity, means you are kind, happy, nice, confident and less aggressive.

According to this, you could either be Nice Popular or Mean Popular (It doesn’t necessarily means you were a bully) or not popular at all :)

It is said that parents hugely influence their kids popularity.

I was a mean popular but not a bully, my brother was a likable popular.

I don't exactly know what my social standing is. I get good grades but I don't think I'm a nerd. That being said, I have nerd friends. BUT, I also have some fairly popular friends. For the most part I get along with most people because I avoid conflict. Still though, I'm not popular and I don't know what I'm considered. Would a guy in college/high school date a girl no matter her social standing or does it matter?
