My guy cousin is confussing me with his married female friend. He’s always talked about how’s she’s like family (because her husband is close to his) and how he’s always cared about her. Welp lastnigh I watched them together at a family function. Here is what I witnessed:

- Asked where her husband was and she said he wasn’t there he stayed by her all night.
-I noticed anytime he made a joke or anything he’d look at her.
-He would throw things at her for attention. But he is kinda immature and acts dumb most of the time.
-He was poking her when making jokes.
-If she was looking at somthing, he'd look too.

At one point in the night I caught him staring at her. She was zoned out and dind't notice.
-He went up to her and said “you should head home” because he saw she was tired and worried she would be too sleepy to drive.

My cousin and his married family friend have been close for a while. They work near one another and always spend time having lunch. He’s always talked about how’s she’s like family and how he’s always cared about her. Today I watched them interact. He asked where her husband was and she said he wasn’t there. I don’t get it. He can’t have her but is he into her?

So.. my cousin (who lives with her parents) broke up with her ex.
My uncle is enraged, because she brought him to family gatherings whenever they were staying in town. Apparently, he automatically assumed they were certainly going to marry, because she brought him "home", you know, since you can only bring someone home when you're certain you're going to marry him or her.
I think he was clearly enraged for some other reason, since he's got to meet other (now) exes of her before or of other cousins. Not to mention, we've got to meet two of his exes whom he never married.. But in his rage, he conveniently forgot all that to make his case.

Anyway, it made me wonder.. is this how you think and act too? If you've never been in a relationship, what would you do if you had someone?

My aunt is a married 37 year old. She has 4 kids. Ages 9, 11, 15 and 20. She hasn’t had a job for more than 4 months since 2002. She took from 2003-2017 off to be a stay at home mom and her husband worked. She has only ever worked in fast food or gas stations. She went to school to get a bachelorettes degree to be a medical assistant in 2013 but didn’t last more than a week because the people were too mean and it was too fast paced so she quit and sat on her ass at home all day everyday. Since 2017 she has been working part time as a lunch lady at the elementary school but she quit in January because the kids were too mean during the lunch line and she didn’t like it. She has been sitting at home listening to music and being overly obsessed with this singer (online stalker obsessed) since January. No plans on getting a job to this day, haven’t even applied. Her kids are at school during the day and she also lets their friends parents drive them to softball games because she can’t be bothered.

Next is my cousin who is 20. She graduated high school last year and has never had a job. She does not plan on getting a job. She has her license but hasn’t drove since September of last year (and I’m not sure if she remembers how to drive). She doesn’t have any friends (I’m not kidding, literally zero real life friends because she got bullied all throughout high school), she literally sits at home with her mom all day every day and does nothing. No plans on going to college either. She is always talking to random people on social media and I guess that’s how she gets her interaction. They both want to go to this singers concert next month yet don’t work and blame everybody else and cry on social media and try to convince the singer to give them free tickets.

This question was actually posed by one of my 7th graders while reading an article about societal changes.

It talked about male and female standards and how they've changed since the 1930's from WWII, the Cold War, and the 80's so that women can do more things to provide for themselves that were typically only for men. It didn't mention anything else on the subject and was literally two paragraphs from a two page article, but I had a girl ask if that's the reason why some guys don't put any effort into relationships anymore.

I asked why she thought that and she said that boys don't seem too interested in doing any work in relationships anymore. She has two older sisters and an older brother. Her sisters pay for themselves on dates and approached their boyfriends. One of the guys is not employed and lives with her sister (I think one sister is 23 and the other is 17). And her brother never takes his girlfriend on dates. She comes over to their house (brother is 19). But she hears her brother talk about how his girlfriend should lose weight or put more effort into her appearance before he moves on.

After she made this statement, most of the other kids (including males) in the class said they noticed similar things with their siblings, cousins, uncles/aunts, and even parents. The boyfriend/husband may work but they don't do anything else. They come home, eat, and sleep. But they said they noticed the girlfriend/wife in the relationship works, cooks, cleans, gets them ready for school, manages the bills, etc. and still puts time, effort, and money into their appearance.

I told them it varies by circumstance.

Not all the kids in the class are originally from this area. Some are from other states and cities but they're all Caucasian (if that matters to anyone). One just got here last week.

So... what do you think? Is the fight for gender equality allowing men to become lazier? And why?
