What do you personally think is the best size in carats IF money were no object? I mean what size would make you proud to show it off to your girlfriends (and try not to lie)? Is it really the bigger the better, or is there a limit? If you were given a ring with an obnoxiously large diamond would you feel a little too showy or too gaudy or would you flaunt it? Is there a minimum size?

I heard about the 3 month salary "rule" but I'm really interested in SIZE (dollar amount is never a good indication of size).

OK I've always thought it would be cool and little romantic if I could find my future wife's ring (not like in the garbage or anything like that). I know in Arkansas there is a diamond field open to the public and you can go dig for diamonds, so if I went and dug one up (got it cut and polished and all of that) for an engagement ring would that be cheap or romantic. I see it as I put in some hard work went out and unearthed the stone had it polished and everything to give to my love, something you can't buy in a store, or am I way off
