With the internet being accessible by anyone almost globally and used by the CIA, FBI, FSB, Police and other law enforcement forces to gain as much information about people as possible I'd say we have PRACTICALLY lost our privacy.

With so many people only too gladly providing everything about themselves online in their profile on Facebook and other social media, publishing their photos, their daily activities in detail and many things more, I, a complete stranger, who has never met them am only 3 clicks and a google/facebook search away from finding out everything about them... in contrast of having selected trustworthy people know about you.
And setting the privacy to "friends-only" doesn't protect them that much either. A court or any other powerful organization can issue an order to provide all available information as part of a lawful/legal act. They will have that information from whoever runs the business. I saw it myself one time when I wanted to protect my customer rights and spoke to the employees of an organization for customer-rights-protection.

Have people lost their minds that they aren't doing any effort for protecting their privacy? What happened to the cool mystery of not knowing being a practice with it's advantages?
I mean it's none of my business what they do but it is only possibly bad for them, not for me.

So the safest way to protect your privacy is by not providing this information in the first place :/
This is why I do not use social media but only a few services to suit my needs. This site being an exception.
