Apparently this celebrity has caused quite a stir on the internet for the dress she showed up in at the Grammy Awards. According to this article from the Washington Post, "Actress and singer Joy Villa showed up to the Grammy red carpet wearing a floor-length gown emblazoned with “Make America Great Again.” The bottom of her dress reads “Trump.” Villa has a bit of history with unusual red carpet looks: She basically wore orange plastic fencing in 2015. And while this year’s Trump-inspired outfit wouldn’t necessarily be controversial at every event, the Grammys isn’t expected to be friendly territory for the president."

So I'm curious to know what you GAGers think. Do you think it's funny? Inappropriate? What are your thoughts? #grammys2017

So the outcry is because white people believe the TV show will be racist because they perceived the movie to be racist against them, mostly because of the title alone. However, the argument from (most) people, including other white people, is that the movie is about what it means to be black and the struggles they have that many white people do not thus not making it racist.


Yet many white people are still unsubscribing from Netflix due to the series despite Netflix having a slew of series and movies that could be classified as racist or having racist episodes and characters such as Pocahontas (indians being called savages), The Cleveland Show, South Park, etc. Therefore, if they have a problem with 'Dear White People', then they should have a problem with racist depictions of all ethnic groups, not just white people.


Should Netflix pull the series or do people need to grow a spine?

It's not news that Muslims, since the start of the Trump and Clinton election campaigns, have been subjected to various forms of racism in American such as pulling off female hijabs and public scrutiny.

Here's an example of threats against Muslims.


The ban itself is enough of a worry for some Muslims as it mirrors the United States actions during the Jewish Holocaust when refugees were banned from fleeing Nazi Germany. The executive action signed yesterday on Holocaust Remembrance Day is now being shown by the media as either an omen or a slap in the face to anyone who suffered during the Holocaust.



For those of you who are unaware of what the ban is, it means Muslims from seven countries, like Syria, would not be allowed to enter the US. If you are a Muslim immigrant with a legal green card, you cannot reenter the US for 90 days should you choose to leave. It doesn't matter if you are visiting family, attending a funeral, going on vacation, or even going on a business trip. Refugees cannot enter the United States for 120 days.

A Federal Judge has already interjected against the plan and several protests against it have erupted, more specifically the one in O'Hare airport. Even celebrities are speaking out such as Catfish's Nev Schulman, Alyssa Milano, Kerry Washington, Miley Cyrus, George Takei, Emmy Rossum and Debra Messing.

Regardless of what country you're from, do you support Trump's Muslim ban?

The White House has announced a plan to impose a 20% tax on Mexican imports that could possibly pay for the entire wall. That means that the tax could cost Americans more when purchasing from Mexican manufacturers and could have negative impacts on foreign relations with the Mexican Government.

Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto cancelled a meeting with President Trump to discuss the wall due to public pressure to not be such a doormat to the United States. Part of the problem Mexico is having is the fact that President Trump signed an executive order to not only fund the construction of the wall, but to also empower deportation agencies. Both orders came on the first day of talks with Mexico, thus causing Mexico's president to cancel his meeting with Trump as the move didn't seem to take into account everyone who would be effected (both American and Mexican people).

At this point, Trump is still weighing other options, but this seems to be the one with the most support from the White House. However, many Americans are concerned about having to pay more for Mexican goods and what negative implications that wall will have on foreign relationships with one of closest neighboring nations.
