The "Willie Lynch Letter" is one of the most controversial and heavily debated documents in history. Supposedly delivered by a British slave owner in 1712 along the James River, the text outlines a brutal, calculated method to control enslaved people by systematically turning them against one another. The strategy was simple but devastating: divide the community by highlighting differences—pitting the old against the young, the dark-skinned against the light-skinned, and the women against the men. The letter famously claimed that by deeply embedding these psychological divisions, the mental shackles would last for "three hundred years, maybe three thousand."

While modern historians have widely proven that the letter itself is a corporate hoax likely written in the late 20th century, the core concept remains intensely relevant to this day. Regardless of when the text was actually typed out, it serves as an incredibly accurate mirror for the exact structural divisions we see playing out on our screens every single day.

When you look at modern social media, politics, and culture, it feels like those exact same lines of division are being actively exploited. We are constantly pushed to fight each other over skin tone shades, age gaps, and gender dynamics rather than uniting to build up our communities. It makes you realize that the psychology of the letter is completely real, even if the historical document isn't.

I really don’t like attending funerals because of how incredibly sad the entire occasion is. Especially when it comes to viewing the bodies of those in the coffin—it makes me extremely uneasy and uncomfortable every single time I see it.

I understand that it's a way for people to show respect and say their final goodbyes, but the heavy atmosphere and the visual of an open casket just stick with me in a bad way. Am I the only one who feels this way, or do other people also struggle with the anxiety and uneasiness that comes with attending a funeral?
