I'm African American to start off.

It started because I told him to take his hat off the countertop, simple request because thats basic manners right? So he gets mad, says it's a brand new hat, and calls me annoying to which i call him dirty because he leaves mountains of dishes for weeks on end and fills the dishwasher with dirty dishes (he said he hand cleaned them but put them in the broken dishwasher to get them "extra clean"). He explodes and says I'm the worst roommate because I don't think this is normal:

He says "Its college you've never seen a dirty sink before?", gets mad and starts swiping shit off the counters, throwing things and yelling to the point he's red in the face and sweating. I called him a slob, he called me anti-social and said I couldn't carpool with him (no big deal). I then called him a stereotypical white trash, dirty, slob.
He then threw more shit, yelled asking why I brought race into it and said my school, Howard University (historically black) probably taught me that and called me a neat freak who was looking for a fight. I called him dirty again and he said "I wish I could hit you but I don't want to be on CNN". I said I bet you would like to hit me, it's how your kind always feels (talking about Republicans). He said he's not dirty because he cleans the door knobs with wipes on the weekends, I then pointed out his sink was covered in hair, toothpaste, and stained. He then said my room stank so bad he could smell it through the vents (but apparently forgot he has a full garbage bag of tissues in his bedroom). He continued calling my room dirty and I continued calling him a slob and pig.

The stain from he made eggs Saturday and he left his mixing bowl out for 6 hoursEventually I walked away while he continued yelling. Was I in the wrong?
