Search Results: keep emailing him

So about a year ago I was dating a guy (it lasted six months). It was long distance, and to be honest, there is no way that he could get another girl (so that's not a problem here) he's really shy and awkward, and practically never talks to girls. We both said 'I love you' (he said it first), and it was a healthy relationship until the last month. He started to become really detached and just completely shut down emotionally. It was a pretty messy end, because he was a different religion and race and his family didn't approve of mixing races or religions (they would've kicked him out and never spoken to him again); he said that we couldn't be together, that he had been scared to love me for a majority of the relationship (he said the last four months we were 'together').

I was really hurt in the end, but when I tried to stop talking to him, he kept emailing me. Long story short, we are still talking, but just as friends. The problem is that I still have really deep feelings for him, and he acts like he has feelings for me (even says he loves me, all the time).

Now I'm in my second year of college and am transferring to a school close to his (in the same town), he asked if I would want to hang out if I was free during the semester. So what do you guys all think, is there any chance that he's thinking of trying again when I am closer, or is he just trying not to hurt me? Should I just stop talking to him, or should I try to get him back?
