Why does he want to keep in touch?

We have been friends & only friends for 10 years but for the last 4months our friendship has been more consistent, via text, Facebooking, emailing & the occasional night out. But now I'm quite heartbroken he's seeing someone...quite sudden to me! He was tagged in a photo with a girl & they looked like a proper couple. I told him via text I wouldn't contact him again as I didn't realize he now had a partner? At first he said he wasn't sure what pic I meant or how recent it was. To cut it short, he did own up to...he is now sort of seeing someone & didn't think I would be upset by it as he thought we were just mates! I then did reveal my true feelings to him . He said please don't fall out with me & pls stay intouch I'd hate it if we were to loose all contact :(. Lol why has he done this? Guys please explain?

I'm not a guy but I can tell you why... he doesn't want to be the bad guy.. nobody does, he doesn't want to hurt you... but he doesn't want to date you either. Do not stay in touch with him so he can sleep better at night and feel like he is your friend and let you down easy... stop being his friend because it would be hard on YOU... screw him... its not about him... its about you. Can you still be his friend knowing he has a gf? And if he likes this other girl, how fair is it to her that he is still texting and emailing you.. who clearly had/has feeling at one time for this guy. That's pretty low of the guy. Look its hard enough to get over feelings anyway, so keeping in touch is only prolonging it, and kinda rubbing your nose in it that he chose someone else. Just say "good for him, but I want to find a guy who wants to be with ME" Good luck!

This is odd, he's acting more like the girl usually does and you're acting like the dude.

He seems like he might be one of those rare guys who are able to have good friendships with women. I'm surprised you were friends for 10 years and you never once revealed your feelings to him, and because of that I really don't think it's fair to say you're gonna stop talking to him because he didn't pick up on your well-kept secret. Though maybe you should if you don't care to be friends with him, as you're only going to hurt his feelings by causing drama.

Sorry if I sound critical, but it really seems unfair.
