Ok so im 14 and on a scale of 1/10 im a 5 or a 6 at max (appearance wise). So yea im not the most handsome guy you'll ever see but Im not disturbingly ugly by any means. I have a lot of friends and I would say 80% of the people who know me, like me as a person. Im quite confident and relaxed around girls and something I pride myself about is my sense of humor. I can make basically everyone laugh (girls included) without like humiliating myself or something. Just plain old humor. However, I'm not that "successful" with girls my age. I have had 2 girlfriends before with who out relationships were like 1-2 months long. I'll stop bubbling now. For the past year or so I have been talking to a really hot girl my age but almost only through texts. She has been throwing hints here and there but nothing major that I could REALLY say "oh she likes me". The problem is that she's really stupid and doesn't have an exciting character so during this time that we were talking I wasn't so into her. However, for a while now (1 month or so) I'm thinking of her very often and I really like her (yes suddenly). We will both be at the same Island for holidays in a few days and we have told each other to meet up there if possible. The problem is that even though I believe I have a good chance with her I can't get off my mind that "dude. She's out of your league" thing. Is it really true? Or do I have a chance? Should I go for it? And if yes, how should I approach her?

Protected classes: sex, sexual identity, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, religion, pregnancy, marital status, military veteran status, age and (to a prescribed ‘reasonable’ extent) disability.

This hypothetical legislation would NOT apply if discrimination is very necessary, e.g. hiring a male to play a male character in a movie, or for an Islamic mosque to perform only Islamic marriages.

Let’s also say affirmative action is allowed in employment and education.

I oppose all anti-discrimination legislation for the private sector, even though I am a racial/ethnic minority and a religious minority.

1. Your business is your property. Few of us would support a law saying that you had to let people into your home. We would in that case defend the right of the home-owner to decide, even if he were being racist. A business is as much the business-owner’s property as a home is the home-owner’s property. You do not have the right to buy goods or services from, or to be employed by, someone any more than you have the right to enter his or her home. The fight against the Jim Crow laws in the southern United States was actually a fight against government telling business-owners that they HAD to segregate the races. People often forget that.

2. Would you actually want to be employed by, or buy goods or services from, someone who secretly hates you? You know it’s said that you shouldn’t anger the chef, because you never know what he might do to your food? Besides, wouldn’t you want to know who the racists etc. are, so you could boycott them and economically harm them? I guess it’s like asking whether you would want to date someone who secretly hates you but isn’t allowed to tell you.

3. The protected classes are actually extremely arbitrary. I would be much more insulted if someone were to discriminate against me because he or she thought of me as ugly, and yet that would be perfectly legal.
