Search Results: being a tomboy

I'm very girly. But not like wearing pink all the time, or crying like a child or something. I have very feminine behavior. I look delicate and naive. People tell me im sweet but I want them to think im strong. Im physically weak (which sucks) and im short which adds to people seeing me "adorable" in their own words. And im nice to people. But I want to change myself I feel like a pushover being the way i am. Should I? How can I be more tough?

I want to clarify that when I say "feminine" and "masculine", I am referring to the behaviors society labels and associates with each. For example a "feminine" man would be someone that is more sensitive, expressive, sassy, etc.

The reason I am asking this question is because of two reasons. You don't need to read them to answer the question, but feel free to do so if you like:
1. I've been described as masculine by a lot of my friends. And it isn't because I dress differently or am a tomboy by any means, but because they claim I'm not as expressive, I don't use a lot of "feminine" gestures when I'm talking, I'm guarded, I am not the nurturing or domestic type, I'm a bit individualistic, I can sometimes put my career over other things, I don't know the right things to say to make a person feel better-- I'm more of a "fixer", I prefer to be in control and dominate, be the one to pay on dates, often have a hard time apologizing or telling someone how I really feel because of my pride, see vulnerability as a sign of weakness, etc.
2. Almost all the guys that are attracted to me (and vice versa) end up being more "feminine". The last guy I dated was overly sensitive. He would constantly need me to assure him that I cared about him. He was very expressive... hand gestures, sassy/fiesty, constantly wanted me to talk to him... all of it. When we argued, he was the one who would force me to talk it out and I was the one who would shut down. He got jealous very quickly and was very posessive. He would get very emotional and sentimental about small things, etc. He was the nurturing and domestic type. He said he preffered to cook and clean and wouldn't mind a woman who could bring in the money. He wasn't afraid to cry openly. Also, a lot of people used to tell me they thought he was gay simply because of these traits that society labels as feminine.

Is this just a coincidence or do others on here have similar experiences?

So I've always been one of those girls that just doesn't get on well with other females. I mean we're civil, we have a bit of a chinwag and then thats it for me. I just don't have a lot in common with them. I love guys, they're so much easier to understand and to get on with for the most part. They're more into adventuring, aiming, camping, bikes, cars, games, just general awesome stuff. When they have a problem they usually come straight out with it, they say what they feel, you know where you stand, you carry on. They patch things up with eachother quickly. I love all that. I'm not a tomboy, I'm actually quite feminine but I just love being with the lads!

If your girlfriend only spent time with guys, (I don't mean clubbing and drinking) would you be ok with that? Other than when she was with you? Please feel free to elaborate!
