Search Results: how to deal with controlling parents

I don't get this girl:
-Initially liked me, but now needs time to herself because she's suffering with extreme depression and alcoholism. She's getting professional help tho!
-So flaky with hanging out, always says "maybe" or "We'll see" to hanging out
-We had a lot of fun the first time we hung out, but she admitted the only reason she met up with me was because she was drinking (she's extremely shy according to her)
-Havent seen her in 3 weeks cause of her flakyness and "maybes"
-Sometimes i feel im just being too inpatient and should let her control how this all goes

Anyway all i'm trying to do is give her her birthday gift (which finally arrived in the mail yesterday). I'm a couple days past her birthday but she doesn't mind. All I told her is i'd like to see her for FIVE minutes... but again she's giving excuses and blabla

I don't get her deal and i'm kinda frustrated with her flakyness. The only thing i can think of is she once said to me "I feel awkward about hanging out with you again. You know im trying to be single and dont want to develop feelings for anyone right now while i get help". But it's just 5 minutes out of her day and it's not a date..

What do i do? i was thinking of just leaving it on her doorstep or something. she lives with her parents btw. im not sure if its creepy to leave a gift at her door step.

I haven't been on the best of terms with the family. Stepfather essentially hates me, my mother prefers their other 2 kids and almost all my life I've been on the short end of the stick from all 4 of them as they gave their absolute best to their 2 other kids, the stepfather would buy their 2 stuff all the time and it will almost always be the top of the line, while I usually had hand me downs. Their education, from K-12 those 2 went to one very pricey private school while I went to a state one up until middle school when my grandmother brought me to live in England.

Their parents sent each of them to college and even paid the full price for it. Me? I opted to study in England and they gave me...errrr they gave me nothing and told me I was on my own because the stepfather was only going to pay for his own 2.

I did very well in university. The 2 half siblings were a disaster when it came to education, one dropped out after freshman year while the other went on for 6 years in college and till today is yet to graduate. Both went to work for the family business and not just them but their spouse too are working for them, well more like they all draw funds from the company but do nothing.

6 months ago my mom asked me to come help in the business as they needed some skills, she promised to put me in charge. I told her no at first then she went on how I had never done anything for them despite the loads they had done for me.

I decided to let bygones be bygones and returned to US to work for them despite having a very good life in England, first she gave me a free hand at the company, managed to stop it from losing money and even paid down some of the debts, in fact 7 of the 9 deals netted in since then has been those that I had brought in, I had them work on it and the stepfather got pissed off I was ordering his kids about to do work, he decided to take control of the company and made their eldest son "CEO" and their youngest daughter "CEO2" With their new found power, instead of investing in equipment as I had planned, they each bought themselves a new car, they each took a bonus rather than pay down the debt and seriously affected the cash flow so much so I can't even do my work.

Last Friday, an old family rival approached me and asked me to work for him, he even gave me an offer letter for the job... am thinking of taking up this job and telling them to go to hell.
