Okay. So started a new job. Is okay. I don't intend to make it long-term. I come from a subfield/branch in the industry where the work & employee standards are higher.

Anyway, I mentioned to the boss as we started a new program - not meant for multitasking - that whoever is not busy should answer the phones. One old hire seems to flounder around doing little (useful) - she can answer the phones. Or a new hire can answer the phone take info, name & DOB then pass it along.

Logics. I included in this email I constantly answer the phone despite leaving it ring for a long time while doing data entry.

The boss's response is to tell the others to pick up the line. Why?

I mean if the phone is ringing, ringing, ringing, ringing, ringing, ringing & ringing (it's a 10 to 12 ring phone) ***obviously*** whoever is doing the data entry ***is not*** answering the phone. It shouldn't have to be something told. It should be obvious.
