Somewhere I read that a woman should keep it serious whenever someone lightly insults them (whether playfully or not playfully) and wear a straight face instead of laughing along with it / playing it off.

A lot of people are up in arms about it because they feel this is disrespectful to America, the anthem, and for anyone seeking to represent America on the international stage.

Even if you TOTALLY disagree with her actions, to say she should NOT protest, means that you are willing to give up your rights to protest should the need arise for you because you can't just say no, she shouldn't be allowed to protest at all, but then a year later when something you feel is wrong comes along, say, oh it's cool then because it affects you personally. Either everyone has the right to do this, or no one at all. We can generally all agree that burning down things in riots and protests is not a great solution to injustice, so even if you disagree completely with her actions, she protested peacefully and did not hurt anyone or anything.
