Why being a tall girl is great!...And sometimes sucky!

So you've made it to my first MyTake (hi hope you're doing well and feeling loved!) origianlly i was just planning on moaning about the shortcomings of being tall but had a change of heart and will do some positive's and negatives, so introducing moi, im 6'2 or 189cms to be exact and have been this height since i started college (going from the school paper) but have always been the tall girl in school.

The good stuff

• People! I'm as awkward as it gets so having people start conversations with me because I'm tall is actually great and I've spoken to some dope people *cough cough Nathan Fillion cough cough*
• I'm a great hugger and a better snuggler, i love physical intimacy and what better way of giving and receiving physical intimacy than being a big squishy person! with the added benefit of being both the little and big spoon
• Sexy time is always.....interesting, switching from being dominant to sub depending on who I'm with is always fun.
• "are your boobs big or are you just big"-Anonymous, i personally enjoy curvy (fat,obese whatever word you like) me over skinnier gangly me and generally feel pretty sexy too, also being a weird niche just adds something.
• easy to spot, while it isn't the cliché "woman walks into a room with a fan blowing her hair seductively whilst she looks at the main character" and more loud footsteps and a high chance of falling over, im easy to spot which helps with points 1 and 2.
• sports! mainly football (im not allowed to say the S word) and volleyball, track to some degree but i run like phoebe, but being tall gives some natural advantages to being sporty.

The kinda sucky stuff

• constant worry of bumping into people, stupid but 1st on my list since a guy elbowed my ass in a gas station and proceeded to be insanely creepy, but yeah with on purpose or accident i seem to bump into a lot of people and in turn i get panicky in big crowds (yes i know its weird)
• leading from the latter, hugging shorter people especially the 5'4/6 range leads to a lot of face to boob hugs, its not awkward until you make it awkward.
• i dont know if its being tall but i get cramp in my legs a whole bunch especially during sexy time (sorry)
• speaking of sexy time, IM BIG, YES I WANT TO SIT ON YOUR FACE BUT IM SCARED OF THE REPOCUSSIONS, but yes whether people expect me to be lighter or have just never felt someone whos 200lbs+ im very conscious of my size.
• Long legs 90% of the time look good
• To wear heels or not to wear heels, for one im scared of turning them into flats as well as not having the grace to wear them, heels just look damn good but out of request or lack of need i never wear them :(

The stuff that sucks

I've written exactly 34 notes on why it sucks but i dont feel like being a negative ass so ill shorten them down to 3 points

• im far from being everyone's "cup of tea", talking about dating not having sex, guys have regularly had an issue with my size when it comes to dates and dating.
• being a "fetish" and why i won't date shorter guys, again bad experiences but from having a guy go on a date with me as a dare to a girl who to this day writes fanfiction about me, its annoying, gross, unwanted and yes there's a difference between liking someone whos tall and dating someone because their tall.
• clothes are a pain, can elaborate but I've seen my opinions on here im sure you know my issues with them.

• @MCheetah As an amazon, do you feel superiors to all those who are small and tiny especially men? nope! i will sometimes joke about it since i have a guy friend whos shorter but in terms of feeling superior no i don't.
• @MCheetah How powerful do you feel having been born with genetic advantages to be bigger and stronger? outside of sports i don't think i have any particular advantages or feel powerful, going back to a prior point feeling "powerful" really only comes to mind during sexual stuff where I'm being dominant.
• @Alance99 You ever faced a situation when you really like a outfit at a store but they didn't have your size? Yep! finding pants especially jeans is difficult to impossible on a budget as well as shoes, tops are ok same with dresses since i usually wear leggings or shorts.
• Do you have a tall family? kinda Dad is 6'2 mom is 5'7 and younger sister is 5'11, but fun fact of i did have a tall great auntie who we think was around 6'+based on diary from Lithuania
• are you gay because men don't like you? Bi so not gay but no, men are cool so are women, dating wise I've had healthier relationships with women and they tend to care less about my height so yah

Omg I really love reading other tall girl posts (I am 5'10 myself) and seeing their experiences. I married a woman who is 4'11 so my personal experiences with being out in public always seem to be awkward when I am towering over her.

Another one I tend to get is, she has an unfiltered mouth that will get both of us in trouble, but they always look at me as if I am supposed to be the enforcer. I am generally pretty soft spoken and although I can defend myself, she is the one you actually have to look out for.

Clothes and shoes not fitting correctly... ugh yes.

I'd love to date a tall girl but I don't think they notice me at all, they only seem to consider taller or better looking guys. Sometimes I feel like they have higher standards!

I'm 5'10 but that's not really considered tall in Australia, more just average.

How rude that girl writing fanfiction about you without considering how you feel about it.

Here are some additional things I would think are sucky for tall people:
Not enough leg room in cars, trains, planes etc.
Having your head touch the roof of the car, or being extremely close to ceiling fans - especially when you lift your hands to try put on a sweater or something.
Sore neck from looking down all the time
Picking up things from the floor
When bed or couch is too small and you gotta hang your feet over the side.
Being too big for certain rides/attractions
Standing out too much in group photos
People looking up your nose
Too much leg for bathtub
Everyone sees you trip
People get jealous when you can climb 10 steps in 1 stride
Look too good while dancing

I'm a guy of about 6'2" (187cm). When I was dating, I definitely preferred girls to be shorter than me; although I found MUCH shorter girls to be problematic... backache leaning in to hear them, things lining-up properly in the bedroom, and so on. When the woman is shorter than you, you can fulfill that primal (or even chivalrous) drive to be her "protector", and also heroically reach things on high shelves. If I had come across the author (or another woman that height; it's happened), I wouldn't have EXCLUDED her, but I would've had to re-think things. Very tall women (I was raised by a woman of 6'1") just don't have the same degree of need for the aforementioned bodyguard/stockboy archetype (that drives all the other ladies crazy!). Instead, I'd have to impress her with my attention to posture (lest I slouch myself into being less appealing to her). Years ago, I lived for a while in the Netherlands, and I was on the shorter side of average for a man... and my posture was never better. Some of you might think posture isn't sexy, but from when I would first start talking to a tall girl I fancied, my mind would race ahead... to the bathroom. It's all down to the best thing these ladies "on high" can offer: successful, reliable, wow-let's-do-that-again shower sex!!

Cool take but 6'2 is not that tall. I'm 6'1 so maybe my perception is clouded but unless you are like 6'6 or taller you're not that tall. And even 6'6 is considered small in sports. Didn't know men fetishize your height. Although I do like when women are 6'0 and thin like models but I also like when they are tall and have a pear shape and their ass is just thicc. There is nothing quite like it. But I gives no fucks about height of women. It's not the height or the weight that matters. It's the shape. But interesting take on what it is like to be a 6'2 woman in your country.

Being tall sucks massive knot, especially as an antisocial introvert, there is nothing good about it other than reach in fights and slight intimidation factor.

I'm 203 centimetres now, I guess it's very abnormal, even for the Netherlands.

FIRST OF ALL
I'm deathly afraid of developing a spine deformity, I have nowhere to sit or lay comfortable everything is low down I always have to look down I never have neck support

Shoes and clothes are a pain, I either have to pay for custom or get way oversize mens clothes because they don't make the stuff in my size.

It's not that I've faced those particular difficulties myself (as I'm a man of ~188cm, which would be average for a Dutchman), but I was raised by a tall woman (~186cm; lost 2cm to scoliosis) with Marfan syndrome. Ook, ik heb een idee hoe het is te leven tussen Nederlanders als iemand wie "buiten" is (more details - en vreeslijk nederlands - if you reply). I felt like every problem you cited, I had an answer for (well... well-meaning ADVICE would be more accurate), and I'd like to share that. There are two problems, though. 1) I'm VERY long-winded (can't help it) and this site forces me to shorten my posts or break them into multiple segments, 2) Site users at "level 1" are not permitted to send messages directly to other users. Well I thought I was tall at 5''7 but then I got told I wasn't... Anywho I enjoy being tall because I get to see my surroundings well in crowded areas, others don't intimidate me (yes, I used to get into fights at school), and clothes always flatter my body shape.

The downside to being tall - especially being Middle Eastern (where everyone is literally around 5''2), is that when I wear heels I stand out. It looks nice, sure. But not when you're at a wedding and literally taller than the groom...

As a result, many people are malnourished and have shorter heights than their genetics would allow. Height is NOT determined by genetics, it is determined by genetics + environment. That's why European men used to be 5'4" in the 1800s. And it's why North Korean men are 5'4" now, while South Koreans are 5'9".

Good job with this. My mom was 5'11" and a US Marine I have seen pix and she looked awesome. I thank her for my height because the rest of the family is shorter.
I dated somebody who was almost six feet tall. She was a competitive swimmer and had broad shoulders and was just big all over. I thought she was beautiful.

I had mistaken your own way of expressing sympathy for your "over-tall" sisters, by quoting a song, as an extraordinarily eloquent lament about YOURSELF. While I think I'm modern and progressive about most things, that reached down, deep to the values I was taught where I grew up (small town/rural Canada; I now live in urban Scotland). It hit the button labelled "maiden in distress"... insisting that I chivalrously shimmy down the fire pole, to saddle up my white charger, to whisk me to the nearest fibre-optic internet connection... and "rescue" her with well-meaning advice. Sweet. Well tbh honest guys don’t obsess over height as much as girls do. I’ve dated girls who were 5ft nothing. I dated a girl who was an inch shorter than me (I’m 6ft). When she had heels on she was half inch taller. Either way I didn’t care. She never had to ask me to grab something out of a tall cupboard or something.
