Question for Straight Guys Only. Others can comment, but this for men only into heterosexual biological females.

You meet someone. You think they are drop dead GORGEOUS. 23-24 years old. Amazing face and equally amazing body, with the ideal height you'd want. They then blow you away with their personality; they're kind, charming, funny, intelligent, considerate, humble, etc. You two have instant chemistry. You quickly develop a crush on her. Like no one before her. You sit down in the park and have a light lunch, ordering hot dogs or something from a nearby food vendor. You talk for about ten minutes.

You then hear her say how her last partner was female; she uses female pronouns when referring to them. The girl you just fell in love with is gay! Queer. A possible lesbian. LGBT. One of the many variations of homosexual. How would that make you feel? What would be your immediate emotional reaction? Would you pursue this girl even further, despite the news?

Do you think too much freedom, rights, and liberties can be bad for society?

The reason I ask this is, one woman I knew back in the US came from a very poor country in eastern Europe. She had almost no rights (neither did anyone else, male or female). When she was finally able to move to the US at 19, she was amazed at how much she was allowed to do there. Blown away by it all.

After being there for two to three years, she started to get offended whenever Americans would badmouth America. She was more patriotic than a lot of the far-left people are who hate the US yet never want to move to Africa or the Middle East or somewhere else.

The reason she told me so many of these people probably exist is because 1), they don't realize just how good they have it in free Western countries, and 2), because "America is a land with almost too much freedom." As in, it's the reason we get into so many fights and have challenging ideologies. People are allowed to have so many ways of life in the US that it means many of us won't get along. She compared it to freer parts of western Europe, which seemingly have "as freedom" as America, but have less freedom when it comes to everyday society. As in, most people are peer-pressured to think the same way, which is usually left-leaning or socialist. She also mentioned a bunch of northern Europe countries, which are almost entirely socialist, and how there's more agreement but less freedom.

So what do you think? Can too much freedom and democracy be a bad thing in society?
