In short, I met a dude. I like this dude. I like like him. We've hung out before, typically alone. Some outings are quite datelike. He's given signs that he like likes me too (or at least that he doesn't mind my presence). We are NOT a couple/thing/pair/whatever. I wish we were, but that's not the case. Not sure if it'll ever happen, to be honest.

The thing is, I've never dated anyone before. Never told my mother of any crushes. None of that stuff.

She always used to tease me "no boys until you're 16" which turned into "...18" which turned into "... until you're done with school." I feel like that's mostly just her joking around, but I'm an only child and my parents are likely naturally a little concerned. But, so far I'm doing quite well on my own and they did a hell of a lot more at my age.

But it's not just disapproval in afraid of (they'd adore this guy, no joke or exaggeration. He's exactly the type they expect me to bring home, too! Now if only I could manage that part... lmao!). I'm afraid that my interactions with this guy may amount to nothing and then my mother/parents and potentially even relatives are gonna be like "well what happened to so-and-so?"
I guess I'm just afraid of disappointing them?

But, then again, relationships (and the screw ups that come with them) are a part of life and my mother should know and understand that, right?
Why is this whole mess so complicated. -.-
