A female (mid-20s) gave a male (mid-30s) a soft toy of a character from a game they play together for his birthday.
For her birthday he gave her a soft toy of a different character (and gave it to her in the exact same box/ wrapping paper as she had used).
Now his friends are all over him saying that a girl doing it is fine, she's just being sweet, but for him to do it, he must be interested in her, it can't just be a nice gesture.

What do you think?

- She used to text me every other day (sometimes about pointless videos or articles she found or even a drink she just had). She didn’t do this with anyone else.

- Shed come to things when I told her I was going or already there. Although that could just be because she liked those things too.

- Now she also doesn’t text me as much and gives shorter replies when I text. Not the really long replies she used to give me.

- I’ve kept calling her a friend by accident. And early on I told her I only see her as a friend as I was scared of losing her as a friend as well. I also implied her best friend told me I like her and she got angry at her.
- The other day I assumed she avoided me at an event I went to and I told her I’d be there too. So I texted her to apologise saying I’m assuming you walked out early because you wanted to be alone so sorry if you just wanted to go alone. She felt really bad about it and said she thought I didn’t go in the end as she had a spare seat next to her and no one sat in it. I feel like she was testing me a bit like how I test her sometimes. To see if I go and talk to her.
