My boyfriend and i have been in the relationship for months now (over 7 months) and we are going good so far despite all the petty arguments. So he told me that he can't save up with only one job (his current job) so he's looking for a second job. He told me that he has been applying for jobs and that he has a friend that can hook him up with a "commercial cleaning" job for night job to earn more.
I dont want to sound shallow.. but I was shocked by this. He noticed from my tone that I was surprised and I didn't say much. He asked "is it a problem for u? are u gonna be embarrased if im a cleaner?"
and i remained silent for a while and then said "to be honest, yes i would"
and then he goes "wow.. are u serious? thats so shallow and immature. so if i was a cleaner, youd be embarrased of me. thats so messed up. i didn't expect u to say that."
and i said "im telling u the truth"
and then he said "u know.. that kind of hurt me. what you said. thats not nice. i didn't expect this from u"
Im confused.. am I being a jerk? Am i wrong for thinking this? I told him that I dont want to lower my standards. Is this shallow of me? Why would he get hurt of what i said?
