Here is my family dynamic:
-I have a mother & father
-A half sister who is 10 years older than me (my mom had a daughter with another man before meeting my dad)
-A younger brother who is 8 years younger than me (we have the same mom & dad)

I am 24 years of age, and all of my life... I have seen my sister mess up time and time again. She spent most of her teenage years partying/drugs, didn't go to college, got arrested a few times, was always drunk, etc. At age 34, she is still doing this crap and she is very vulgar and lies a lot.

I've always been the opposite of my sister. Good grades, hard worker, went to college, have a great job, never been arresteed, great friends, proper, kind, etc... and I have instilled these traits into my younger brother.

Here is what bothers me. All of my life, my dad has told me that my mother values my sister over me and my brother. Growing up... I never saw eye to eye with my dad... so I just thought he was just saying that to be an ass. As an adult, my dad and I have a great relationship... and I am finally seeing what he said about my mom.

-When my younger brother and I do little things she gets mad at us. Like, for example, we turned off the TV downstairs because she wasn't watching it. She then told us that mad her mad and really annoyed her, etc, etc. She one time didn't talk to me for a month... because I "slightly" angered her.

-When my sister does stupid things -- Cusses at my mom, goes on drunken rants and call my mom, etc... she seems to instantly forgive my sister.

Last night my sister dialed my dad while high (she was trying to contact her drug dealer but dialed my dad instead). My dad showed my mom the message to convince my mom that my sister is still on drugs (my sister has been telling my mom she has been off drugs for months). My mom instantly dismissed it and they were talking today lon the phone ike old friends.
