I often find myself unsure of what girls actually find attractive in a guy. I've seen guys before whom I've found attractive, but girls haven't (on the internet, that is - even on this site, for example, girls have posted pictures of guys they find attractive but I don't, and others have posted pictures of guys girls don't find attractive but I do). So these answers could help both sexes on this site try to get closer to knowing what most people find attractive in their own sex. I also wonder if this is easier for people who are bi/homosexual...

Fun fact: I detest Nicki Minaj, and I'm stupefied as to how some of my own friends find her attractive.

From the waist up, I find this guy attractive (I don't know who he is; I just found him on Google Images right now). link . Below his waist is where it starts to get turnoff-ish.

It took me a while to think of who I find one of the most attractive people I "know", but I found the character Jenny from Suits. link . Vanessa Hudgens is also pretty damn hot link .

So I've been reading up lately on the incident where Skepchick was in an elevator in Dublin, and a guy asked her if she wanted coffee.

"Don't take this the wrong way, but I find you very interesting, and I was wondering if you would like to come back to my place for coffee."

Now, sure, it's rather forward to ask someone back to YOUR place, but the gesture was polite and not forceful. No pressure, just a simple inquiry.

But as it turns out, the whole feminist community blew up about the situation. Labeling the act as objectification, sexualization, and misogyny.

For what, simply asking? She said no. It ended there. But then his name gets slanderized as some sort of sex offender.

Even Richard Dawkins got involved. Saying that she should get thicker skin, and that the women's movement shouldn't demonize and hate everything that makes girls slightly uncomfortable.

I myself side with Dawkins. I have been in a similar situation. I wasn't sure how girl felt about me, so I flirted with her, albeit a little awkwardly. Next I know, I'm receiving death threats.

Now I WILL say this: It was on an elevator, at 4am, in a foreign country, and he was inviting her to HIS place. But even then, all she had to do was say no. There was no force. Not even any suggestion of sexuality. If any of the genders were changed, no one would have a problem with it.

But how, for the life of me, are guys supposed to feel comfortable around girls when you're walking on eggshells the momen you hop on the same elevator? Much less, how would we be expected to make a move, when something like coffee is agreed as misogyny and objectification by the feminist community?

I just feel I'm missing something, here. And I would appreciate the discussion.

An answer that I read on this site got my mind jogging to ask this question.

To summarize, this girl said that she is chubby and doesn't want to date a guy that's chubby cauz the idea of two chubby people having sex doesn't appeal to her.

This got me thinking about people who are very out-of-shape fitness-wise, but will turn down a guy/girl due to their refusal to date someone that is a similar ballpark phyiscally as them.

Hence, the whole idea of "dating up or not dating at all".

In essence, this person wants someone for fit / less overweight then themselves, for them to date (or at least more fit then them)...when they're not fit themselves.

--Sure, sugar daddy 'dating' tends to involve a larger age difference than you usually see in casual dating.

--True, sugaring explicitly for sex, or sometimes companionship, rather than romance.

--True, on sugary 'dates',cash changes hands, rather than the guy just picking up the tabs.

But isn't traditional dating by implication also about sex for money?

Here's how they are alike:

--The guys usually pays. While no cash changes hands, women often have more disposable income because guys are paying for a lot of their dining out and entertainment. I know women who budget this way when they have a bf.

-- Often the guy is older, though usually not by as much as we see in the sugar scene

---Often neither party has any emotional commitment or interest; it's just sex and/or companionship, just like sugaring

As I see it, sugar scenes differ only in that the date is usually much longer, several days or weeks rather than a few hours, and involve a longer itinerary, often with long distance traveling..

Especially these days, dates, like sugar relationships, rarely are any great romantic occasion.

I mean is it OK to have 2 or more NON-serious relationships at the same time? Say you've been on a few dates with one person, and you meet someone else who you like, is it OK to start dating them too and decide which one you like most after you've been on a few dates with each of them? Or should you just make your choice and stick with it? Also, what if you're sleeping with both of them?

I met a girl (Jess) out clubbing 3 weeks ago & we've been on 2 dates and going out again soon. She's nice and I quite like her, but I'm not 100% convinced she's "the one". I don't want to end it yet though because I do like her and I want to get to know her more so I can decide if I really like her or not. We've not slept together yet, but I think it's likely to happen in the next couple of weeks.

Last night I went out clubbing for a friend's birthday, and one of his friends was a really cute girl (Kate) who looked more "my type of girl". We made eye contact a few times while dancing so I briefly introduced myself and we got dancing. After a bit, I went in for the kiss, and we kissed for about 30 secs. Then we danced away from the rest of the group for a few mins, then kissed for 5-10 mins. She was a very "enthusiastic" kisser and I got a bit carried away, so we were starting to stroke each others' backs and feel bums etc. Jess had been in the back of my mind all this time. As we started to "grope" a bit more, I realized that the only way this was going to end was with us going back to one of our houses and probably having sex. It had gone too far for us just to go back to dancing with everyone and gone on a date later. When I realized this, I decided that it wouldn't be fair on Jess if I slept with Kate. So I had 3 options:

1. take Kate home and end it with Jess the next day.

2. ditch Kate - just go home on my own and pretend nothing happened.

3. forget my morals and take Kate back to my place. If Kate was interested I'd date both of them for a while, if not then I'd just carry on dating Jess.

What would you have done at this point? Which choice would you have made? Or would you just have not got into that situation at all by not dancing with "Kate"?

I chose option 2. It sucked. I didn't want to just walk away and leave her wondering what she'd done wrong, so I took her outside where it was quieter and I told her "I'm really sorry. I'm actually kind of seeing someone at the minute so... you know... I'm really sorry for leading you on." She looked a bit hurt but said she was cool with it. I said she was REALLY nice and I was very sorry, and went home. I felt such a d!ckhead. I hate that I upset her, it was so harsh of me :(

Plus, I now think maybe I should have just invited Kate back to mine and maybe we could have just chatted. She seemed a really nice girl and I completely blew it with her.

Opinions much appreciated

I've been having this experience in dating that has been happening a lot and it's getting very frustrating, and I'm sure there are others here (both sexes) who have experienced it to.

You go out on a first date, maybe a blind date or an internet dating thing, everything goes good, you have a great conversation, and when you part you hug and say "Text me later!" or something like that. Then... the silence..., you text her, and nothing, you text again, and nothing, you email, and nothing, then you realized it's happened. She isn't interested in you.

I do have to say I see this happening way too much lately and it is simply disrespectful and cowardly, if you're not interested in someone after the first date, then JUST TELL THEM, why do they always just ignore you hoping that you'll get the message? And also, if you're just not feeling it on the date, why not just say so, be honest, and part ways, that's the honorable thing to do, rather than lying through your teeth and body language, giving the date the feeling that you're interested. This is just cruel, it gets a guy's hopes up, then crushes them.

I think it may be this post-1985 born generation of people growing up with stuff like the internet that lets you avoid face to face confrontation so much that you never learn how to face it. I see it a lot in girls, though, it may happen with guys too, I don't date them so I don't know, if that's the case girls, tell us here. It's true, we all don't like confrontation, especially face-to-face, but something like a text message isn't even confrontation, all you have to do is text them "Thanks for the date, but I'm not interested, sorry." Seriously girls, it's not going to hurt they guy's feelings, it's not, back me up here guys, and also tell me of your experiences with this phenomenon.

I want to know WHY you do this, and don't lie saying you've never done it, nobody's perfect, if you've done it, just say so and tell us what's going on in your head so we can understand you better, and maybe not be so hurt when you flat out ignore us after the first date. Hi! I'm dating this really awesome woman who really turns me on & I totally love her personality, but anytime I am with any friends of mine - whether male or female, she asks me and even accuses me of having sex w/them, wanting them, or flirting w/them...I know that her ex cheated on her & left her for another woman...It seems as though nothing I do or say proves to her that I do not want anyone other than her...Is there something I can do to stop this behavior in our relationship?
