While my 3 older brothers would already go on long camping, hiking trips elsewhere from earlier ages and then learned how to shoot, my parents treated me like a baby. I wasn't even allowed to walk home from school (alone) till age 14 and it took convincing followed by an ''ok, but be careful''.

I was 16 the very first I was finally allowed to go with my brothers to their adventures and learned from them how to shoot too. My parents still had an eternal, long talk with them before saying yes ''oh be careful she doesn't step on something sharp, hurts her knee, etc..)'' to the point we were all like ''alright, we get the point''.

I think we can be just as good at doing risky things but as you can see, my parents were holding me back.
