Search Results: friend vs. relationship

Basically the premise of this question is simple and is aimed at people IN RELATIONSHIPS (preferably serious ones). Do you feel there is a difference between going to a bar with friends or going to a party with friends (each without your significant other)?

Little background just to give the question some substance. My wife has a huge issue with me going to the bar to drink and play pool with my friends. Okay fine, so I don't do it anymore.

Now I'm in Afghanistan and my wife told me she's going to a New Year's party with some friends. Well, I expressed how I feel that going to a party is no different than going to a bar. Each is with friends, to drink, have fun, listen to music, etc. The only difference is the atmosphere. I'm also uncomfortable with her going out drinking because I know she gets really flirty and brutally honest.

Well she didn't like that I wasn't okay with her going. I didn't say she COULD NOT go, I was just uncomfortable with it. She also said she does not think bars and parties are the same, while I feel they are.

So, here I am, asking YOUR opinion. What do you guys think? Same or different?

***Disclaimer: I'm not trying to stop her from having fun while I'm gone. I am, however, looking for equality in the relationship in terms of what can and cannot be done.***
