So I have a roommate and we split the payments with two things: a toaster oven and tapestry. I recently tried to sell the tapestry on facebook, and she asked for half of the profit. I told her that's fine, so long as she pays me for what I paid for the toaster oven. It didn't go down so well.
Her: Hey girl, if you sell the tapestry, would you mind giving me 1/2 since we split it? Me: I can't remember--did you give me half for the toaster oven? Her: Yes, and for the tapestry Me: No I meant I gave you the toaster oven, so did you give me the remaining half? Her: You told me not to worry about it because you'd never use it? I tried to tell you that I'd give you 1/2 but you told me not to worry about it Me: Well, I mean if you want half of the tapestry now I might feel a little differently Her: Just forget I said anything. Me: I mean you said the same for the tapestry-and I will no big deal-but I would like half for the toaster-just like you still spent money on the tapestry I still spent money on the toaster

I do still owe you $10 bucks for the other night Her: Ok Me: What's wrong? I don't understand the issue?
Her: Honestly, I just feel like I provided a lot of stuff in the dorm that we both used daily and you used when I wasn't even there, and I went out and got duplicates when I moved out so I wouldn't have to take them from you like the dishes, shelf, mirror, fan, and the rug, etc. If the money for 1/2 of the tapestry means that much to you, just keep it. But if you were kinda selling it more for what we even bought it for. Me: Remember back when we were moving in and you got excited and wanted to get all of that thing and I didn't want to? That was your choice. You told me I could use them. I also bought a $40 dollar chair for us. I didn't ask you to get those things. Her: I didn't need the chair either, I had my own. Me: Right! It was my choice
