Met a cute scene girl on this dating site that's not exactly main stream. And yes she's real(Facebook searched her too LOL :p)

Anyway we exchange a couple emails back and forth, she responds to stuff that doesn't need a response, AND AT LEAST she's RESPONDING. However she is not responding with stuff that can continue a conversation... anyway

Me being confident, I just assume she is interested and move on from there

So I asked her for her number yesterday, and still no response yet. To my previous emails she'd respond back within an hour, sometimes a day. Anyway

Online chat(Summed up):

Me: (random stuff), so why do you like music so much?

Her: It helps me feel special like there's a purpose for me to be on this earth, is helps me get through the sad days and birng me up

Me: (random comment about Music) ------ no response and I'm sure was read

(Later I commented one of her photos and she said "Why thanks :)")

Me: By the way, my name is __ (Idk what I was thinking here LOL)

Her: I'm ___

Me: (Witty joke to ask for number, she sorta gets it. it ends with "Please tell me you text")

Her: I do text lol

Me: So how about you give me your number then? lol (still no response, been half a day, I do believe it was read)

Thoughts on how to recover? Do I need to recover? We're both 20 btw

So I met this girl a couple weeks ago through some mutual friends, who apparently have been trying to set us up all along.

After hanging out in a group a few times, I asked for her number to which she gave it to me without any hesitation (so far so good). We began texting a little bit and things seemed fine. My two friends also did some detective work for me and told me she in fact thought I was cute and pretty cool and would be interested in getting to know me more (even better, but strangely those were my words about her).

A few days later we're hanging out again with the same people trying to set us up. She still seems very receptive and friendly to me. Not overally flirtatious, but friendly (then again we barely know each other). After leaving their apartment, I sent her a text apologizing for forgetting to say bye to her (I sort of gave her the cold shoulder by accident). The convo (paraphrased) looked like this:

Me: my bad about giving you the cold shoulder and not saying bye, gotta a little distracted on my way out I guess.

Her: Its ok! I'm sure I'll be seeing you in a few days :)

Me: Speaking of which do you have any plans on sat?

Her: I think I have a party that night, a kicking off of the semester one, why?

Me: Just seeing if you wanted to grab a bite and hang out.

Her: ahh too bad! oh, and ... says hi!

*Subject changed and we talked for about another 30min about random stuff before I told her I had to go to bed.

Me: well if you change your mind about dinner the offer is still on the table.

Her: will do.

So, I know only time will truly tell but do you think I got rejected or that she legitimately had an excuse to be busy. I guess I'm a little skeptical because apparently this girl has had a history of befriending guys with little intention to actually date them. So I'm wondering if I'm the next victim.

Any thoughts? Also do you feel I should make another date offer a little into the future or just wait for her to make a move now since I've made my intentions clear and I've essentially put the ball in her court?
