I just saw a question without a poll about parental disapproval in general.

In this quesiton, I want to isolate the reason for disapproval which is different ethnicity/race.

If you personally were okay with the idea, but your family wasn't, would you still marry him or her?

Namely, I'm talking about the general citizenry.

I grew up in Dallas, TX. The population is 28% white, so you can imagine my surprise when I learned racism still existed. Even the cops here are chill as fuck. Well. Hispanics have some tension with black people, but white and black are pretty much always cool. I also lived in Houston with my cousin, where the population is 23% white. And it's such a southern state. You're taught in school that Lincoln signed the Emancimation Proclimation, and then slavery was over and everything was all good. At least, in my public school, they didn't go through the aftereffects and such.

But. Do you think that, today, the nation is more racist than not? Or that racism is still pervading? I mean. We have a black President in a 75% white country. We might even be the only nation that has ever elected a minority to the highest position. And we're the most diverse country. You ask me, I think the U. S. does pretty well, considering all the different religions and ethnicities. Christians and Muslim's alone. But. That's not the question.

So, is the U. S. mostly racist, moderately racist, sporadically racist, or mostly not racist?

I'm a 20 year old man who won't turn 21 until August of next year. Recently, I just met a woman who's 30 years old (will be turning 31 in November) that works as a restaurant manager and we just started getting to know each other. So far, we've had a good time meeting and getting to know each other for the first time at work. She told me about her dating experiences on how she's dated many sorts of men (younger, older, different ethnicities/races, etc.) but just didn't seem right fit with any of them so far.

She too is just casually dating and not looking for a serious relationship yet. I don't know, it just feels kinda awkward dating a woman who's that far apart from me in age difference. I don't even know if she'd date a man this younger than her. I'm just used to dating women within my age or slightly younger but at the same time, I don't think it'd hurt to try out something new (dating a much older woman).

What do you guys think? Is it worth it?
