How

For the past 17 years Spongebob Squarepants has been one of the most popular and controversial cartoons on Television. Some have said it has no educational value whatsoever. There are some things however I can point out that make good real life lessons I have realized from watching the show.

How to treat People

Spongebob is seen as a optimistic, happy go lucky guy who is friendly to everyone he meets and who is nice to him. He is also not predjudice because his best friends are a pink starfish with a low IQ, A Land dwelling squirell from Texas, and A egotistical, grouchy squid that enjoies the fine arts more than having fun. This goes to show that treating people as people rather than who they are or what they like is the best way to go. It's ok to have friends of a different race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, music taste, tv taste etc.... If you treat people for just being human and be understanding that everyone has flaws, more likely you can get alongwith people without any drama.

How Businesses can (sometimes) be ran

Mr Krabs runs a small resturaunt in Bikini Bottom, But sometimes he uses unfair business practices to gain more profit and like his pockets. Unfortunately, some business owners whether it be a small business or a big corporation do practice unethical practices. Mr. Krabs is well known for being cheap and running a skeleton crew to run the resturaunt (more on this later) But he is also well known for charging unfair prices when a opportunity arises, Such as in the first movie when he changed the prices of Krabby Patties at over $100 because King Neptune was coming into the Resturaunt, though we later find out not to eat. Mr. Krabs also does not practice good safety standards. For one thing in an episode it was revealed he lacked to keep wet floor signs. OSHA laws and most business laws require a place of business to use wet floor signs if floors are being cleaned or have been cleaned. Competition between business is also explored as The Krusty Krab is right across the road from The Chum Bucket. Monoplies have also been featured on the show with the notable example of the Kelpshake episode. Truth is, Businesses everyday use underhanded tactics to try to earn the customers dollar.

Employment

Spongebob and Squidward are both employed by the Krusty Krab. In some episodes there are mentions of how unethical Mr Krabs' employment practices are. He barely ever pays his employees which employers have often been accused of in real life as well. He does not pay overtime pay which is time and a half. He often provides unsafe working conditions. One notable episode is where A shelf falls on Squidward, it is later revealed that Mr Krabs fails to meet OSHA guidelines for safe workplaces. Another instance is when Spongebob gets a splinter, Mr Krabs at the end discusses that he was glad he did not have to pay Workers Compensation. This implies that Krabs would possibly fail to do so. It is also implied in some cases that Mr Krabs sometimes gets his products for resturaunt use unethically. He will also fire employees for very little reason at all. In one episode Spongebob does get fired because after fifteen years of employment Mr Krabs figures he can save five cents if he cuts an employee from the payroll. Unfortunately businesses are accused of this often of cutting employees to save money. Later in the episode Spongebob learns about Unemployment Insurance, Food Stamps, Food Pantries, and other resources for unemployed job seekers (Which SB does not want but Patrick discusses to him about). It is also fair to note that Mr Krabs hires the least amount of workers possible to effectively try to run the business. He really should hire more workers to cover things in case an employee gets sick, calls in, or has to leave early for any reason.

Some People in life accomplish things later in life or never accomplish things

Spongebob has tried to get his drivers license for several years but always fails to do so. This is very commom for some teenagers and young adults. Some feel unsafe behind a car, others like SB feel like they are not properly educated to operate a automobile efficently and safely. Patrick has a hard time focusing at work when he gets a job at The Krusty Krab, He simply is not very good at focusing on the task at hand. There are lots of people like him who are not properly trained or have the mindset to do the job required of them. Squidward who is in his thirties is a music appreciator and lover of the fine arts, some do not find their niche in life until they are that age.

These are just some ways in which Spongebob is relevant in everyday situations.
