For me, the highlight would be watching a few long-term mentees finally step into roles they’d been working toward for years—one launched a startup, another transitioned into a completely new field at 40.

Moments like that remind me why I’ve spent decades in education and career development: seeing quiet, consistent effort turn into visible, life-changing results.

What was the hardest part of getting your book from idea to publication?

For family stuff, getting my dad through another birthday (94!!!); and one of my little cousins graduated from college, so I’m wicked proud of her.

Personally, it would probably being going down to Nashville last month with some beer league teammates for a draft tournament. We got lucky and all got on the same team, and played on a line together; that familiarity with each other makes a big difference on the ice. We didn’t lose a single game, and walked (more like “stumbled”🥴) out of there with gold medals, which we paraded around Nashville on the third leg of our bender🥇

What's been the highlight of 2026 for you?

The trip was a lot of fun, and we put on a clinic of balancing binge drinking and two days of extremely rigorous athletics. Bananas and Liquid IV, that was the secret. Couldn’t have been the 3:30 AM street meat, lmao.

Moving into my new place has definitely been one of the biggest highlights. I genuinely love the neighborhood and finally feel settled here.

But I think the biggest change has been getting closer to the people I love and slowly learning to believe in myself and what I’m capable of.

And congratulations on becoming a librarian by the way 🩵 I had a feeling you’d get it.

Met my childhood friend finally after 13 years. of not seeing each other. We knew each other since 12 years. old.

Also ran into another friend whom we haven't seen over 10 years... in Japan. Small world?

My wife and I had a very enjoyable European river cruise, from Romania to The Netherlands, thankfully before the low water crises and extreme heat.

The trip lasted 3 weeks, including multi-day visits to Transylvania in Romania, and Amsterdam in The Netherlands.

Going to 2 concerts  I waited 10 years to see them  I had tickets in 2020 but covid canceled it, then i got sick and then they went into the military
