Much happened in global politics in 2024: Political crisis in France; Labor returns to power in the UK; Trump win and the Republicans win the US election; collapse of the German government; and an overall shift in global politics to the more conservative right.

On a personal note: my older cousin, who was both like a brother and a father to me, passed away; I ended my part-time work and am now fully retired; my son got married, my daughter's house survived two hurricanes in Florida.

Overall, 2024 was a good year.

The way that AI reached mass adoption in 2024. No single news story, but just a sudden "oh, it's literally everywhere now" realization that many of us had.

The landing of that SpaceX rocket was pretty impressive.

I retired from my day job and just teach part time. That was sort of a big deal. I had minor surgery that may have been successful. Of course this was all overshadowed by the history making victory of President Trump.

The economy avoided collapse and even after factoring in real world inflation, my investments made a profit.
