I had a lot of older guys around when I was a kid. My father taught me to be reliable and to keep a job. I also learned to be persistent and keep trying to complete a task from him. Find a way to get things done.
My older brother taught me how to be cool and popular in some ways. He was those things, so I acted like him in some ways during my younger years.
We had a family friend named Bruce. He taught me how to be humble is some ways by his personality, and he showed me how to fix a lot of stuff at work.
as an actual role model that I would look up to in specific? nobody, well not one person but a few in general... and then, it wasn't about "being a man either"
to me... everyone in my life was a great example of both, what to do and what NOT to do as well, and about that... I made about being a person, my own person as well
however, there's a key factors that I do have in common with my father (but also with my mother, so...) and I guess that was influence, or a coincidence, lol
to this day, I don't really care if "male or female leaning" I'll do what I'll do the way I do it, regardless... I just am the man that I am, and that's it, lol
My father was a big role model for me. He was a WW2 vet and a small business owner. He really was an American hero. I also used to workout at a small gym in the next town when i was in high school. I was a fat out iof shape kid but there was 4 or 5 older guys that showed me the right way to train and gave me encouragement when i began to get in shape. They also gave me advice about school and girls. They all drove muscle cars too. I used to call them all the big brother that I neevr had.
It was probably a mix between my grandfather, Thor Heyerdahl and Jules Verne.
have you ever read the book Endurance? you might like it
If you mean the Shackleton expeditions, I have read a fascinating book about it as a child, but I couldn't say if it was the very same Endurance book. 🤔
Same-ish.. I can't say that I really had one growing up.. The closest would be as a kid I grew up going to church a lot, and my Pastor was a reformed Gangster, and a wise man (for the most part).. So I guess I did see him as a figure to look up to.. As an adult I've found more men to look up to... But I don't know any of them personally.. LOL..
There were no males I knew personally while growing up. The only man I have ever truly looked up to is my husband, and I had to wait until I was 20 before he came into my life.
Best friend's father who was always explaining things, like how to repair and build things, plus how to treat people with respect.
Probably more my dad? my brother had always been more like a best friend to me.
I don’t see people as role models, never did. Find the concept weird. Like you don’t know what to do, how to act or be a decent human being without watching and imitating someone else? Weird.
I learned some other stuff from my dad. Not everything I learned was from my mom.
