Like right in front of my brother too!

I feel like they're being fake or joking to get back at my brother for him flirting with their sisters or girls they're dating. My brother is a flirt so some of his acquaintances are more like frenemies.

It always shocks me since I expect just a normal Hello when we're introduced. (And it's always unexpectedly since his friends are off limits my brother never tries to let me meet his friends. Sometimes I feel like he's embarrassed of me since I'm timid and he's the popular type. He's really overprotective of me though.)

Guys never call me pretty, hot, beautiful etc. Except for total strangers (mostly old men) who are hitting on me so I'm pretty skeptical of a mutual friend saying so. Like my own male acquaintances don't compliment my appearance so I don't quite believe any guy.

First scenario: you just recently got the girl you've been chasing for years, you've screwed up all your previous chances by flirting and being inappropriate with other girls and lying. But, your friend who is a weak person is talking to a girl outside of his relationship and your friend is telling you he doesn't want this girl and she isn't stopping with pursuing him. So, you decide one night while drinking with your friend to prove this girl is no good. So you harass her and promise to put her through college since you're in the military and you swear you could give her more than your friend ever could and you will also be there when and if she changes her mind.

Keep in mind you do this all while your girlfriend is at work and has no idea. 3 months pass by, and you're about to ship out to basic... and the day before you leave your girlfriend finds those messages and is heart broken... when she's about to leave you, you break down and beg her not to go. You know she cares about you and can't stand to see you suffer so you talk about how you don't want to join the military or anything without her.

Second scenario: your heart has been broken repeatedly by the guy who claims to have been in love with you for years, everyone is convinced he's mad for you and acts like you should forgive him no matter what... and you're tired of playing the victim to him and having him always completely disregard your feelings and the relationship you shared... you retaliate while he's in basic and kiss another guy. It was literally a sit down, think about it, and decided to do it anyways. To make matters worse you decided to kiss your ex knowing quite well that it would hurt your boyfriend just a bit more. You've full on disregarded your relationship at this point and you're about to end it and tell your boyfriend everything.

Now I could be wrong, and I'd love to think 'he tells such truth' and all. But I just can't. He said he wanted to be friendly? And since I have a few feelings spare, I've wanted him to just be honest with me in order to be able to have a friendship.

Anyway, the lines got blurred. He started flirting with me (which friends shouldn't do, of course). And it bothered me. A lot. We were either friends or a couple, nothing in between.

Since he was being flirty with me, I asked if he had moved on with another girl/was interested in anyone on a few occasions and he'd always scoff at me or get angry at me for suggesting it. I guess his flirty behaviour with me made me question where I stood with him.

Anyway, my friend brought me to light on his recent Instagram likes. And there's been a certain girl who he's been liking a lot of pictures of. Including a snippet of a conversation where he compliments her eyes as being 'dark and smoky like her soul'

Naturally, this seems to me like he's interested in someone new. And I've gave him a million opportunities to admit it to me. All I wanted was the truth, so why is he blatantly lying? I can't have a friendship with someone like this.
