This COVID-19 is not ideal when you are looking to potentially date. I was speaking to someone through Tinder, we have been talking pretty consistently for the past 2 weeks. He had to cancel last Sunday, said that his neck was hurting him. He followed up that night letting me know how he was feeling but I did not respond. He doesn’t message again until Tuesday this week, asking if I would be available to video chat that day. I told him that I would like to reschedule. He sent another message that night with a question, I responded but left his following response on read. He sent another message yesterday but it was a random photo with a caption. I responded, as did he & left his response on read again.

My point being, that compared to our communication last week, we have not video chatted since then. He communicates with me, but it’s general questions and irrelevant photos (what I mentioned above). I have not attempted to communicate with him aside from his efforts, however, I feel like he doesn’t know how to court a lady. He should ask how my day is going etc. He views my stories on snap & has not messaged since yesterday. I don’t want to follow up & I feel like what we had going is no longer worth pursuing.

Whose to blame for things falling through? I would say he is, because of lack of persistence.

Everybody knows that I am up-front about things that might cause confrontation. I'm not one to sugarcoat things. This sometimes gets me into A LOT of trouble lol, but I prefer to be honest and people know that if they ask or approach me about something that they should be ready to take it because I'm not gonna cover it up or "try to make them happy" by what I say. At the same time, this is a GOOD thing because they'll ask me before they'll ask anybody else. I like having the honest reputation instead of being one to suck up to people.
I am also one to stand up for myself, so if it causes confrontation then
1) They shouldn't have asked me if you didn't want my opinion or the truth (whether they asked a factual question or for an opinion matters).
2) I'm not gonna suck up to anyone.

So overall, I don't suck up to people. Regardless of how much confrontation comes with it, I'm not afraid of it and I'm not going to lie to prevent it. If somebody thinks they won't like what I say, then they probably shouldn't ask me to begin with.

On the flip side of that coin, I wouldn't want anybody lying to me either, or sucking up to me. The whole point in me asking them is to get the truth, or I wouldn't be asking. If they are one who lies to keep peace, I'll get that they are dishonest and won't associate with them anymore.

I also think a lot of people don't realize that honesty, in the long run, keeps down confrontation.

I have worried that friendships don't form in my life because maybe some can tell I was abused growing up and they don't want to get closer.

I want to try to find out Why there seems to be a barrier stopping friendships from forming (a condition which has been present for many years now and is really taking its toll).

I was told by a professional that I have a flat affect: its when your face during interation or conversation with someone shows no emotion or change and supposedly this is disconcerting for the conversation partner to witness, to the point that they will not want to talk to you in the future or think that you are emotionless or psychopathic.

Internally (especially in private) I am emotional, but when in front of people there usually an energy drainage in procession: As much as I feel attached or caring towards people, especially certain ones, quickly I lose energy around them.

I also just do not want to be open, and this is instinctive. I have so many memories of being harassed and feeling so low down growing up from childhood and all the way into high school. Not sure if that is typical for everyone else but that feeling of not belonging, fear, and feeling like something was always wrong with me and needed to be changed to fit in, and never succeeding at fitting in defines my period of growing up. Not only was I facing bullies in peers but my caregivers tore me down too.

So the question here was if people can sense I was hurt and broken down growing up and if this is something that is making them not be attracted to friendship with me.
