Okay I used to be really fine with needles until eigth grade where I was told if I tense, the needle can hit my bone and my limb will be forever painful. After that I got my needle and accidently tensed and from this day, it still hurts my shoulder.

I am today getting a needle into the other side of my elbow where my veins are
and I am overhearing my mum tell someone on the phone that "She won't be able to move her arm or talk" "It will be soo painful for her"
And I googled it and everyones saying its not that bad, but my mums saying it will be so bad I won't be able to speak wtf do I do I'm freeking out!!

I've been donating my blood since I was 18 as do my mum and dad. My dad actually also donates his palettes as well but my two older stisters refuse to out of fear and I'm shocked that a lot of others especially young people don't to due to cultural stigmas, fear and people being to busy etc. Which is quite unfortunate as people's blood from different races are in very high demand as well as more blood donor's just in general in the UK.

Frist time I did it I was scared and nervous. I forgot my own my name when I was filling the form in 😅 but it was so quick and easy to sign up as a blood donor and the nurses were so friendly and helpful. They kept offering me food and drink to help keep my blood levels up.

Once my name was called I had to go in to a private room to have my finger pricked to test iron in my blood and then I went to give my blood. The nurse used the pressure monitor on my arm to look for veins. Once she found one she cleaned my arm and but the needle in. I looked away and she just spoke to me whilst putting the needle in, to distract me I didn't even notice to much. it literally just itched a little and was over before I knew it, all I had to do was sit there and and do little feet and hand movements and it was over and there was nothing to be scared of at all.

All I'd suggest is have a friend or family member with you and most companies and business people work for in the uk still pay you if you have to leave early to donate unfortunately my work doesn't but that's because there a smaller business but I still do it was I believe its important and if it was me or someone I love who needed blood I'd have to rely on someone to donate so its only right but I do myself as well.
